You have to hold a jacket in front of you throughout the performance. This is not the same conditions as King.

This one is the same as the pocket levitator or wild levitation. The thing I really hate about this is, you don't look as you float, but shrinking! Take a look at the video again!

Yes, unlike King Rising, and Zero Gravity, your legs pull up, but your whole body does not go higher in the air. At least that seemed to be the case in the video (although the camera work seemed to try to obscure this a bit).
You might get away with this verbally. For example, I had recurring dreams when I was younger that I could lean forward and pull my feet up in the air. I did not float up—just stay suspended about a foot off the ground (this is true, I really had those dreams). While mentioning such patter, you could say, "I find what when I lean forward, it doesn't work but even standing up, if I just concentrate and raise my feet . . ." and do the levitation. This would be totally unexpected and shock people. Obviously no levitation is perfect, because no one can really levitate! So, this seems to have it's place when routined correctly. I am pretty sure I know how this works (I don't have pocket levitator). If I'm right, then I suspect I can't do this for the kiddies at birthday parties because the kids are sitting on the floor and this would be too low, right? |

Well, I just saw the video and it is obvious to me how it was executed.. I really dont like the angles and setup on the king Lev,
and I feel like I got screwed by the misleading add on the ellusionist.com site, just showing the lev and not the complete performance. But, I have to say it knocks the socks off of the M.U.S.L.E.. when performed correctly, the King looks like a real levitation, and I agree with a previous post.. the video of M.U.S.L.E. looks like you are shrinking and completely gives the effect away.. Just my opinion.. C-ya Tom

I see davekilpatrick's point right away. I was thinking most levitations that I have seen the head does not rise when the feet leave the ground. This is why advertisers do a quick close up of the feet instead of a full view of the levitation.
I have seen levitations where the feet move to the side. Then the head has an excuse not rise higher. Thanks for your input I love to see levitation and would like to perform a perfect levitation one day. Dolini

I think the M.U.S.L.E Levitation is also sold as 'Neo-rise'. Anyone know if MUSLE uses a different gimmick? (they look identical)

Lesault,
Yes, as far as I know they are both the same gimmick, one is just double the price. I think that's what the M in M.U.S.L.E. stands for. Tom, The reason we don't show a full presentation of King Rising in the demo is because we didn't want to get emails saying "Haha! I watched the demo for King Rising 84832 times and figured it out without paying!". It had to be made almost impossible to figure out. -Corey

"It had to be made almost impossible to figure out.
-Corey " HI, Well I do not think that it was. I think the reason that magicians that saw the ad could work it out and an audience would not is that the ad told us every method that it wasn't so common sense and a couple of trials sussed it. But a lay audience would suspect something far more than the actual method. I still bought it mind, because I liked it and thought that I would use it occasionally. Phillip |

I bought the KL as well, after having a vague idea of the process... I have had it a couple of months, but have not performed it for anyone yet. I just dont feel like I have gotten it down perfect and I dont want to mess up on it, ever..... if I do it anytime soon, it will be in a door-way or a hallway
and without anyone expecting it. just for saftey precautions... I understand that you did not want to show the full performance without the purchase so the secret can be kept hidden. But you must admit that the demo video implied that what was shown, "WAS" the entire routine.. cut and dry. which of course is not the case.. On another note, I appreciate the fact that KL has been kept a secret, and I have "suddenly" gotten an extraordinary large amount of new friends e-mailing me asking for the secret *L* dont worry, I have told no one... Over all, if performed correctly, the KL is an awesome levitation... and by saying that the demo was mis-leading, I am not at all implying that the effect, its self.. was not well worth the money spent. Its a great trick. Take it easy Tom

Tom, In traditional magic buying, we read a catalog description, maybe look at a drawing or a picture, and take our chances. But if what you buy IS a video showing how it is done, I suspect you MUST hide some things in a video demo that would give it away if viewed over and over. If I see tricks a few times, I normally figure them out. Am I a genius? No, I've been doing magic for nearly 30 years and after awhile, you can figure out new things based upon accumulated old knowledge. This is true for most magicians. Thus, if you are selling a video explanation of how a trick is done, you absolutely MUST cover your tracks or else you will sell zero videos and yet everyone will be doing your trick! In traditional magic buying, these details are simply left out of the catalog description. On the flip side, maybe there would be better buyer satisfaction if ellusionist.com said something like "parts of the routine are not depicted to protect the secret of the illusion from be exposed by repeated viewings, however, your spectators will see you four to six inches off the ground, just like you see here . . ." Then, the buyer would understand and not feel slighted and ellusionist.com will be able to continue protecting the secret. Make sense? Dave |

Yes, totally. The video clip is still not 100% foolproof...I just opened up an email now saying someone figured it out and wanted access to the forum.
But, the video demo is what the spectator's see, in a sence, and if you asked them about it the next day they would tell you that. Also, keep in mind that the jacket is not necessary. A lot of people, especially on the KR forum, have had great success, without ever utilizing the jacket method. Brad and I came up with that for people not comfortable with misdirection. The original method involved only misdirection. -Corey

Well, as I mentioned earlier, the MUSLE levitation seems to shrinking rather than levitating, however, if I am not wrong, we can trick it a little, like this:
Start with sit on a chair, use and prepare the gimmick, cover your feet with jacket, lift your leg a little (that is what the audience sees) and stand up while the feet still floating! the audience will never realize your height! So, you are floating! Anyway, I still believe balducci is number one. Maybe we should kill the masked magician!

davekilpatrick makes a good point, I guess a lot of us (me) have gotten spoiled with the readily available demos on the web and take them for granted... You are correct in stating that most experienced magicians can figure out the method by watching a trick demonstrated, I regret and apologise for the statement I made about being screwed by the misleading add. I was wrong and should be thankful that I was able to see the levitations resulting effect before I purchased it. The web is an excellent marketing tool, and I probably would have blown the KL off if I had not seen the demo..
Thanks for the insight Tom

Tom,
But I bet you agree that you would have appreciated a little disclaimer stating that all parts of the routine are not depicted to preserve the secret, right? Dave |

MAGICTOM Veteran user Dallas, Tx 354 Posts |
Yes Dave,
it would have been more appropriate to present the trick with that disclaimer, I agree with you there as well.. C-ya Tom

Back to the MUSLE lev, can you walk away clean afterwards? Or, is there a little bit of clean up, like in King's?
|

spenceman01 New user 1 Post |
No, there is no cleanup after the MUSLE levitation. You walk cleanly away.
I just purchased this illusion this weekend after the salesman offered it to me at $25 off the full price. After eyeing this illusion for quite some time, I couldn't pass up the deal he offered. |
