I have seen a trend in the Latest Greatest section where someone has a new amazing item to sell... which is either a pre-order or a limited release.
Everybody hold your dollars high! Move in closer as we are soon going to close the doors. Well... that is how I see it sometimes. The old adage "Fool me once..." springs to mind, but they keep showing up with dollars held high the next day. Now, if you try to point that out you get lambasted for critical thinking... and if you point at the naked Kings junk... doubly so. I'm not venting about any particular item or seller. I'm just trying to comprehend that mindset. Thoughts?
I still recall the day I met Beaker from the Muppets. He said to me "Meep, meep, mee mee mee Meep!", and that has made all the difference.

Hadn't thought of it that way before, but your post makes a lot of sense to me.
For many reasons, we're a gullible lot. Like the guy who knows just enough about cons to be conned.

I always look at the end results.
Can I achieve the same result without spending hundreds of dollars on some device? I'm surprised no one has tried to sell a golden TT (oh and I HATE having to write TT) to vanish a $5 silk...

Or offer a review of a product that's outside the supply-side schedule. Recently someone got groused for reviewing Giobbi's Card College videos.
Is there a name for the time-frame of supply side product? An Overton window between time to talk about using a thing and time to express wishes for a better version of a thing?
...to all the coins I've dropped here

I like to peruse that area and read all the buyer remorse stories... as they open their wallets for the next 'this time for sure' magical item that requires no skill.
Why do they line up to buy a pre-sale item that has not been proven or reviewed ( except by a 'non-friend' who creates an account that day to sing it praises). ... "Forward, the Dollar Brigade!" Was there a magician dismayed? Not though the punter knew Someone had bamboozled. Theirs not to negatively reply, Theirs but to hold their dollars high, Theirs not to do but buy. Into the Jam Auction Bought for six hundred...
