I am about to purchase the Raven and have thought of a nice transposition effect. If this is exposure, please delete this.
You show one coin and put it in the spectators hand. While doing this you execute a switch ( I use bobo's). The coin that is now in their hand has a duplicate gaff. You bring out that gaff with a duplicate of the original coin underneath. Put on top of ther hand and using the Raven execute the switch of the coin on top of their hand. Show that one that was on top is now in their hand and vice versa. You end clean. |

I have the raven and understand the button up shirt setup and the jacket set up...
Can someone please PM me about the setup in a normal tee shirt? Someone said they had it over their right hip... I don't see how this is possible without being seen. Thanks
Magic Mark
"How'd you do that?" ... "Very carefully." |

I personally think the raven is cumbersome, but I am trying to practice with it more so I can make my motions smooth.

I like Raven.
But in order to perform Raven, my finger is pain and unnatural. So I made finger ring by myself with silver clay. That Ring has a "hook"(it's like Hooked Coin). Whenever I perform Raven, I wear that ring to my middle finger. Now, I can move my fingers freely. So I can do some other tricks before Raven. When I wanna ditch my Raven, I just bend my middle finger. I love my rings. Hope this helps.

I don't want to sound mean or anything, because to one magician a trick can be poopie and to another GOLD. But with me Raven is poop and I would throw it a way. Reasone being: Raven has a set up that takes to long to reset everytime you would like to reperform it. Also the spectators have the feeling that the coin is being taken you the gaff because of a half beat that gives it away. or its just the Fallbrook people here in C.A. that pick it up on just a half beat... Im not gonna dog you, I'm just saying that I find raven silly. I suggest learning some coin action, Jay Sankey has one of the best coin videos I have ever seen... Good luck with raven hope you layman don't see it! -Cameron

The Raven is a utility device, not a complete performance. The use of it isn't for everyone. True, it takes a little getting used to, but if you practice with it and integrate it smoothly into your performances, it can be astounding to spectators. I've experimented with several different setups, depending on what I'm wearing and have been pleased. Practice with it and get comfortable and eperiment is the best advice I can give. The t-shirt setup is a new one to me, but I have an idea. It's a good device that I've been pleased with. The only limitation is your imagination.

I love the raven, I have the raven 2, which is slightly larger but has two mechanisms, my advice would be to use it as well as slight of hand techniques.

Now, look I do sleight of hand magic and also use the Raven when possible, and you get completly different reactions with the different methods.
No sleight of hand is as clean as waving(not touching) your hand over the coin to make it cleanly vanish. Plus you can even show your sleeves "empty" by dangling your arms and pulling up your sleeves. This is a great effect if you have a jacket or coat, get it! |

I use an alternate hookup (which I'm NOlonger sharing because waaaaay too many people kept asking), and I use it to vanish borrowed dollar bills. It's all about how you use it. In my opinion it is one of the greatest utility devices. I have more uses for my raven than I do my TT.

But is the raven worth the price?
Don't think too much.
Just hit it. |

I like using it at the end of a routine of dollar bill tricks, to make the dollar vanish. (Place a canadian coin or shim coin under the dollar)
