A couple of items from a collection of items I acquired... Origin is likely European
First item below consists of six small engraved plaques, three red and three black. Two dashes on each side. One of the red and one of the black plaques have the dashes running in opposite directions on each side. On the others they run in the same direction. I assume maybe this allow use of the old Chinese Compass move for part of the routine but just a guess... The second item also engraved is a clock dial that allows the hands to form any card combination. Not sure if this was part of a routine or a novelty item of some sort... Also in the collection and looking for instructions for are: Theo Timmerman's "Auto Race" https://www.martinsmagic.com/product-tag/theo-timmerman/ Casino Royale from Howard Schwarzman's Limited Editions https://www.martinsmagic.com/allmagic/cl......warzman/ "Time Terrific" from Collector's Workshop https://www.martinsmagic.com/allmagic/me......orkshop/ Any help is appreciated. Thanks! John |

I think I tracked down the first item. Was going through items in my collection today and came across an older obscure effect called "Pointers". Effect is credited to a Paul Curley, handling attributed to a Haruo Yabu and instructions by Shigeo Takagi. The laminated cards are set up the same way as the engraved plaques so believe it is a variation of that effect. A cute effect.
I think I may have tracked down the Time Terrific instructions. Any leads on the other items would be appreciated. John |

I realize I am probably talking to myself in this thread , but one more update. I mentioned above that the instructions for the arrow/plaque effect above was credited to a Paul Curley in the instructions for the "Pointer" effect. Yesterday I was in my local Magic Shop (Browsers Den of Magic) and going through some used books. I picked up an original copy of "Paul Curry Presents" and found a cool routine inside called "Turnabout" using three cards with arrows and a multi-phases. Obviously the name was mis-spelled in the instructions for "Pointer" and should have been Paul Curry. My detective work on this is done ... fun when things come together. It is actually a neat routine that I will do.
Also received the instructions for Time Terrific... thanks Steve. |

I am glad you found your answers John. So many things get put away and forgotten. It is good to hear this routine is good enough that you want to do it. Paul Curry Presents has some nice magic in it but I have not seen it commonly available for years.
