I carry a Z-fold wallet with the aces for Twisting the Aces in an envelope so as to be able to the the Darwin Ortiz finish with the ace of spades. I can also use the aces for Dr. Daley's Last Trick. The wallet also contains the cards for Brother John Hamman's Pinochle. In addition I also have the cards for Swain's Psychic Poker. Also in the wallet are five business cards with consecutively numbered business cards (mine).
Of course I don't perform all of these in the same performance. |

I usually carry an invisible deck with me, and I keep a pack of regular cards in my backpack. I also like to carry around a notecard that I've prepared for a little prediction trick I like where my incorrect prediction is fixed when I hold a lighter up to the notecard. This is all I ever need for a quick "Show me something cool" moment.
Oh, and now that I think about it, I occasionally carry a gimmicked dollar bill in my wallet, but I've been doing that less since I nearly accidentally spent one |

Two standard Bikes, one Brainwave, one Blankdeck and two Decks of cards to do the Kissingen card trick, where I use one duplicate card. But it's very rare I carry six decks.

The seer gimmick is awesome for this. Always in my pocket and ready to perform with anybody's cards. Very cool.

As a 'non-performing hobbyist' who is fascinated by EDC (everyday carry), my magic-related EDC follows a few basic principles...
1. Impromptu is best, but some basic tools can still help this- pen, paper, coins, etc. 2. If I pull it out of my pocket to do a trick with, there has to be a reason I was carrying it. There is absolutely no reason I would usually carry sponge balls or cards. 3. A couple simple, easy to carry and hide gaffs or gimmicks are OK, and I will usually cycle through a few so I something fresh for my small audiences. I like to throw in a few tricks that use gaffs to make my truly impromptu stuff look even cooler. IN MY WALLET- normal bills, small pen in the crease, folded scratch paper held with paperclips, a few business cards wrapped with rubber bands (and one of the few gaffs I routinely carry- a rig to do a home-made version of the 'rabbit out of the hat packet trick'), a couple bandaids, some duct tape, and a couple safety pins. POCKETS- assorted coins including a half dollar or two (I avoid fancy coins for this), a 'lucky coin' (Chinese, English Penny, or Centavo depending on the day. I avoid coin gaffs and fakes because I keep loosing or damaging them.) Bandana or hanky, multitool. Many days I will also carry a thumbtip and maybe a bill gaff. KEYCHAIN- a spare key for things like bending or some key-based tricks, a keyring pocketknife, small flashlight. Everything is easy to take off the ring. Sometimes I carry a mini Sharpie modified for keychain carry. GEAR BAG- I carry additional gear about 78% of the time. In my gear bag is a deck of cards with duplicates, sponge balls or multiplying rabbits, and whatever gaffs or tricks I tossed in this week. I work in a rehab facility, so we have a lot of junk in most of the desks. I LOVE to find a deck of worn cards in someone's station and do a couple quickie tricks, or juggle some of the balls, and the old, dumb tricks in the dining room. Sorry for being long-winded, but I was thinking that discussing the rationale behind my carry might help some readers. |

I'll try to be thorough, hope it's not to long-winded. Casual prop management is something I put way too much thought into
![]() I usually carry: POCKETS: Either a deck of regular playing cards, or a deck containing a couple dupes (French kiss, etc.) and 3 odd backs (Blindsided, DGarcia stuff, etc.), along with a single card setup for TNR and a single prepared torn corner transpo card (dupes and gimmicks below a doubled flap in the box) Four quarters, a penny, a single s***m quarter s***l, and a magnet that can be discreetly palmed and/or attached to the chain wristband I wear, occasionally the Little Hand A sharpie Balloons (Pressure, bill/card in balloon), Rubber Bands (CM's Handcuffs, Pixel as an ending to Ambitious Card, etc.) Occasionally a prepared gum packet for Ultra Gum A shoelace, if there's room (Borrowed finger ring on string) A cheap r**l on my belt loop for quick into-the-shirt vanishes And VERY occasionally a small length of IT wrapped around a card ("impromptu" levitations/animations) WALLET: Bills and Cards, the usual One or two bills set up for TNR (I also usually have a serial number stack on top of my deck) Torn 2 pieces by Shawn Farquhar (picture of myself) Small sections of Apple brand earbud cables (Guess what this is for- incredible effect when borrowed) D***** B***** card for Card to wallet PHONE: Icard by Daniel Garcia and corresponding card folded in pocket |

If I have absolutely nothing on me, I could do some finger magic - The Pinky Thing by Nick Locapo and Breathrough by Johannes Mengel
If the other person has a credit card on them, I have a pin divination. If the other person has a phone, I perform a calculator trick The best way to be convincing with the 'show me a trick' moment is to tease out the magic moment, rather than just a quick 2 second trick because they won't find that very interesting |
