Dear Cody,
This version was created by Siebensinn from Germany he calls this ‘puzzle of life’ and it’s available for sale at zauberzentrale who sell it as Merlin’s Magic Elixir http://www.zauberzentrale.de/shop/ZZM-Ex......%29.html |

The Winston Freer Tile Puzzle on Steroids. I remember John Rogers (wooden cigar fame) presentation of the puzzle. I think this is pretty much based on John's idea. These are not that difficult to make given a table saw and some woodworking skills. tTe magnetic pieces are a true innovation here.

I love this puzzle effect. People are really fooled. Amazing concept.

Joe Fairchild I think makes one also. It is the freer puzzle. Thanks to Karl Norman for keeping it alive for many years before everyone "discovered" it.

Sorry, but it is not the Freer Puzzle. I know because I build them. Different cut and different Gimmick.

I own a Winston Freer puzzle and know how the Merlin Giant Puzzle illusion is done. Two completely different gimmicks/method.

The Merlin’s frame is about 30” tall. The maker of the Merlin puzzle (Zauberzentrale) stopped making the pieces in a natural wood finish and was only offering them in the faux marble finish (as shown on Zauberzentrale’s site). I reached out to Pegani (they carry the Zauberzentrale product) and they ordered some Merlin units made with the wood finish pieces. My Merlin puzzle is scheduled to ship tomorrow. Including shipping and the optional carry bag, I paid less for the Merlin puzzle than the retail price of the Steven’s/Gaynor parlor version. Mark

My Merlin Giant Puzzle of Life arrived today. The quality of the props is OUTSTANDING! The outer frame/board has a built-in stand and the face is covered with a black velvet material. The pieces are constructed from a hard fiber board (very durable) with a woodgrain laminate applied to the face. Each piece has its own magnet(s) to hold the piece to the black back board. But just enough magnetic force so the pieces stay nicely in place, but are also easily moveable.
Quality of construction is first-class, all the way. Even the optional carry bag is first-rate! (Do buy the optional carry bag, it is totally worth it.) This is one of the nicest quality magic props I've ever purchased. I purchased mine from Steen Pegani at: https://www.pegani.dk/en/products/puzzle......illusion Mine looks exactly like the one pictured on their site. Mark

I performed the Merlin Giant Puzzle of Life at my Ring meeting tonight. It was our club's annual 'You Fooled Us' competition. I was betting (hoping) that neither of our judges had seen the Puzzle of Life performed which would, hopefully, mean they did not know the method. My bet paid off.
The plaque I'm holding actually belongs to one of tonight's judges. He fooled a previous duo of judges back in 2019. My own plaque will be ready by the next meeting. Fun stuff! Mark

And The Originals are all built by me. You can buy (unauthorised) Copies form many dealers. Even the ZZM Version (I built a few for them - they took that as a freebee for selling Copies) is not (longer) an Original. Felix Siebensinn |
