I have two sets to suggest
Cards only set: ----- Triumph ----- Ambitious Card with Williamson's 51 cards to pocket as a finale. ----- Twins from The Secrets of Brother John Hamman. Other Set: ----- Color Monty ----- Chop Cup ----- Pot Hole Trick (Michael Close) Great Magic and the spectator goes home with your business card. P.S In the Right Venue, I'd follouw up if requested for an encore by taking the signed ambitious card and perform Michae Ammar's Card on the Ceiling. |

3-D Sponge Bunnies (My routine has a lot to do with it, too.)
Ring and String (I reworked a Mark Leveridge move that really works well. I also have a great finale to it.) Tarbell Egg Bag (The one I use is made by Pauline Tong and the routine is by Martin Lewis, with slight modification by me.) |

It is difficult to decide on three, but here is an attempt:
1) Sponge Rabbits (Daryl routine) or Sponge Balls (Ain't no mo' by Carl Andrews) 2) Deja Vu version of Paperclipped by Carl Andrews 3) Dan Fleshman close-up Linking Rings Bruce Hetzler |

1.) Sponge ball routine (explained in the "opener" thread)
2.) AC, ending with Card to pocket and sometime with card folded in a little box which was standing on the bar for all the time. 3.) Himber ring routine

A LOT of you seem to have Paperclipped. I was curious about its handling vs. Peter Eggink's 3 Fry. They both have similar effects (signed cards being predicted/paperclipped). Curious about the difficulty of each effect in comparison. I own 3 Fry but have been curious about Paperclipped as well, and noticed a lot of you seem to use it.
Any info would be helpful. |

I perform ALLOT in a bar setting, but is much like walk around at times as I visit tables in the bar area when the bar is slow. Anyway, I am a card and coin guy for the most part, but since so many have been given already I will give you a VERY effective non card/coin set to place together.
(1) Approach the group and blow up a black ballon. You are going to end your set with Mark Jenest's "Billoon." Make jokes with the ballon and then hand it off to a member of the party. (2) Take out two bills and perform "Time is Money", a trick that is Magic Magazine this month. (Feb) One bill is signed and both are folded and then given to the spectator. They clearly see the two bills and in less than a second one vanishes...the signed bill is found neatly folded under the person who signed the bills watch. This routine alone is the best non-card item that I have found in years in any magazine, take the time to track it down. (3) Place the bills away after the applause and do a quick color changing knife routine. (Real poeple LOVE the knives man.) Hand one knife to a spectator and have them open it while you place the other away and secretly obtain the signed bill...which by the way everyone thinks is out of the picture since you did such a great trick with the bill anyway. (4) Have the person you handed the knife to use it to bust the balloon and inside will be the signed bill, again. I have been, intensionally, a little vague here becuase I do not want to tip methods if you do not own the above listed tricks already. Track them all down and try them together, they flow very nicely. The balloon keeps you from having to table hop with produce in your pockets and it also causes quite a stir when busted. After the noise other groups will notice you and the group you are with having a great time...nuff said on that one. By the way, the bill routine is suppose to have a borrowed bill, but I do not like to approach people and ask fro money after knowing them for 15 seconds. I just bring out two bills and have one signed. I use the same bill trick after trick, all of the initials on the bill eventually become a good conversation piece during the night. Hope you try it...it kills for walk around.

Open with my version of Blank Deck
Rope Routine Dice under cup While I agree that in their hands is cool I can't perform much of it in the bars I work most of the people have food on their hands. I know, perform before they get their food but most of these sports bars there's lots of kids and parents always call us over during the meal. Even after the meal they are messy and then there's dessert. So, I kind'a have to stay away from that for the most part. John |

I table hop at my workroom Caféteria for fun. People only have a half hour for lunch; so if I have time for 3 tricks/short routines, it'll be : 1)a thimble routine 2) color monte or other packet trick (I also like Twins) 3)a full deck trick like Chicago Opener. If I do sponge balls, it's a routine that takes some time; but ai agree with others on this topic that magic in the spectator's hands is very powerful.

1. Invisible Deck
2. Tommy Wonder's Two Cup Routine 3. A coin and silk routine put together from the Roth DvDs 4. Cardtoon 5. ACR to Kennedy Box 6. Sponge Bunnies You said 3 but I gave 6. These are routines that I usually don't leave home without on Tuesday nights when leaving for my restaurant. There are several more. I don't routine into sets because I feel it limits me. I like gauging the spectators and deciding what they will see while I'm at their table. I feel that routining certain tricks in a certain order makes it seem rigid. |
