As long as you can execute it correctly. If you say blank pages, and they are colored, it does not work.
If you say non colored, and a few pages show colored, it can be an issue. You need to be able to hold the book correctly and pan left and right. I think it is acceptable for anyone under the age of 14, but targeted to those under 8 years of age |

I open my kids shows with the coloring book.
"Hey kids, raise your hand if you've ever seen the magic coloring book"......"Great, You'll be really good at this" This takes away the value of saying "I know this one". Usually, almost all the kids raise their hand because the ones who have never seen the trick think you are just asking if they've seen a coloring book. I also tell the kids that I am using that trick to see who can follow directions and who can be quiet when it time to be quiet and loud when it's time to be loud. |

As for the coloring book, try passing out the coloring book to the audience and let them find a picture they would like to have you color by magic. Then take back the book, vanish some crayons and turn the pages of the book they just handled from black and white line drawings to crayon colored drawings. For a finale, roll the book up and pour out the previously vanished crayons. They just sit there with their little mouths and eyes open wide with surprise... better than applause.

You get some coloring books from Dollar Tree or whatever your local Dollar Store is called. You get some crayons. You spend some time coloring in the books according to my directions. You do some cutting and pasting. You work out your routine and perhaps make some of the suggested complimentary props. You end up with a trick you can be proud of that no one else in the known universe has, and if anything happens to it, you know how to make it again. Priceless. https://www.magicnook.com/kidmagic/kidshow.htm and scroll down to item #4.

Hi Jim!
I just ordered the Coloring Book Manufacturing Instructions from you as I have wanted to make one of my own for a long time. I just didn’t want to do it incorrectly. Now, with your instructions, I will be able to do it correctly. Thanks for making the instructions available to the rest of us at a reasonable price. Peter Cuddihy |

Hi Jim,
Can I order some of your plans now? I love building props myself (some Tommy Wonder influence there) but struggle working out the how. You have helped so many magicians, I understand beginners and exploiters would try to take advantage of you, I am not one of them. Thanks Rob Bradbury

I usually perform it for kids up to 6 years old. The older kids have often already seen it. You can also switch the gaffed book for an all-blank version at the end (or beginning) for examination.

For those who want to turn that around on me and say that I should first prove to them that I am a magician, I say... keep your money.
