Anyone have particular success with certain pulls, such as longevity of the elastic, size of the receptacle ? Thanks

I think you are under the impression that there is only one type of silk pull; one powered by elastic and with some kind of receptacle. There are actually many other ways to vanish a silk with many different styles of pull, and many ways to vanish a silk without using a pull at all.

The vernet invisible tt is appropriate for small silks up to a 12" diamond cut silk or the vernet universal pull for larger silks. They are both very good.

Silk pulls use to made out of aluminum, the elastic can be found at any fabric store, if it need replacing. They no longer make the aluminum ones, they are now made in India out of wood. The aluminum version will hold an 18 inch square silk as used in magic.

There is a plastic version as well available, I would think it holds more then the wood, version as they look a little small, and wood walls would be thicker then plastic or metal.

Film canisters are another good option to make your own. You can either not use the lid or cut hole/slit in lid specifically to match item. You can also put two holes in lid to create a switch device.

How about prescription pill bottles? Available in a variety of sizes and the lids are very practical and workable (holes, slits, etc.).

I never considered the pill bottle idea before, Julie! Thanks for that!

Actually, they made and sold a pill bottle years ago, I think it was Theater Products, but painted black, the problem with this style of flat bottom, is it catches on the clothing during the vanish. The egg shape is still the best.

Many beginners don't understand that a bit of misdirection is needed to take attention off the hand concealing the pull at the moment that the pull is released.

When I used a pull, as a teen (eons ago) I would hold my wand under my arm (of the hand with the pull). When the silk or ? was tucked into the pull, My empty hand would reach for the wand. That provided the "cover".
