I'll be hitting the library next week, but I thought I would reach out in the meantime. I would like to add a color changing knot to my silk routine. Any recommendations?
Thanks for your insight. |

Never heard of a color changing knot, using a silk in my 60 years in magic. That does not mean, there isn't one. What would be your idea of how the effect would look in your mind? Then we can go from there. Audiences respond well to color changes, so it is a good idea.

Thanks for responding back, Bill. I didn't find anything in Rice's Encyclopedia of Silk Magic or Tarbell, so I'll just invent something. Thanks for the encouragement - It should be pretty visual. I'm doing an update on the sympathetic silks. I always feel like if you want something new, look at something old.

My mind goes to Knots off silk working, and use that in some way. Slip knot combined with the Knots Off silk. Maybe even you can use the Knots off silk, and add the color change. Although you could not untie the knot is that is want you are thinking. And show the color in the middle of opened silk.
Here is what I am referring to: https://stores.silkmagictricks.com/produ......ide.html Here is another reference, you don't have to have the holes if you don't want them. https://davidandteesha.com/?s=Knots+Off+......=product |

I do Jay Scott Berry's Chameleon Knots. He isn't producing them anymore, but you might be able to find them used. Here is a clip of somebody performing it:

Thanks so much for the post. I actually already solved my "problem" of the color changing knots on silks via prototyping. I know that Jay is very clever. We were close when we were kids (we had the rights to produce and sell some of his magic effects and he was in our wedding). We haven't really kept it touch, although we saw him at his magic castle lecture this year. His topit work, he showed at the lecture was just great. I played the clip you sent. The solution he came up with is quite like mine, although I am doing a very different effect from the point of view of the audience. Jay's effect is great and I really appreciate you pointing it out. Thank you!
