That's the problem with rechargable build in battery packs.....they last around 6-8 years. (some fail already after 3-4 years and some last for over 10 years...) It's a gamble how long your tool will work ...

Flux as far as I know has replacable batteries.... much better in the long term.

Yes, Flux is soooo much better and Craig’s customer service is second to none.
I messaged Hugo twice and also tagged him on the FB group - absolutely no answer. My unit basically died after 3 years and I have no way of repairing it. I also contacted Penguin whom I bought it from and they just told me they can’t do anything, “but if there is anything else they can help with I shouldn’t hesitate”. What a joke. Vanishing definitely would have handled it differently.

I've had three Sixth Sense units over the years and have found Hugo's customer service a bit of a contradiction in terms; there's no service to speak of. Got a Flux recently and now wish I'd gone down this route ages ago.

Definitely not getting anything from Hugo again. Also managed to get his email shortly after my last comment and I emailed him (so like nearly 2 weeks ago) - also no answer. Which is just shocking as I was literally asking to pay to have my unit repaired, nothing more.

Definitely none of both… Scan 3D was the best device made ever (by Promystic), but currently they don‘t make them anymore. Hope they bring it or something similar back again … Jan

Jan, what do you prefer about Scan 3D over Flux?

Smaller, more sensitive, vibration not in the unit, easy to hide at/in the sleeve (wrist band), made for that… Flux is (only) commercial (successful), but then I prefer Hugo‘s 2.5… Jan

I prefer sixth sense 2.5 as it has never failed me. I like how the device hides under watch or somewhere else rather then on finger where lots of heat will be given.

Rechargable can be an issue but to me flux just gives lots of misreads.

Looks as though all UK suppliers (that I know of) are out of stock. I'd suggest either put a wanted ad on magicweek (it's free) or buy direct from pro mystic

Does anybody know if/when Sixth Sense 3 might be in stock again? Everywhere seems to have sold out.

I ask as I had a issue with the 2.5 version yesterday (temporarily stopped working - no clue why) so I’m exploring other possibilities.

In fact any pointers as to what is on the market these days in this area most appreciated, my Sixth Sense 2.5 has served me flawlessly for years, so I’m completely out the loop re other, newer products in this vein. Any pointers gratefully received.

Best wishes,

Ross

As the original post in this thread would suggest, Flux is a great option that's still widely available and quite reliable. Or were you looking for other options beyond that?

My only issue with Flux is that you have all the heat on your hands, and that is exactly where the unit is hidden. You can not show your hands empty.

I don’t see why you couldn’t remove the working bit from the non-working bit of Flux and put it into a more wrist-adjacent housing. I think a lot of flux users don’t use it precisely as delivered out of the box.

Also be careful using these devices under a watch strap if you have a smart watch (like an apple watch). It seems to get false reads … I think triggered by the watch.

Yup. Any watch with a magnet could be an issue.

The heat really isn't on your hands at all. I never had anyone question my presentation. Your hands do look empty, BTW.

I have to agree with Jan. I recently bought Flux after reading all the great reviews on Cafe. I rehearsed with it quite a bit and finally got the on/off figured out pretty well. I prefer to palm my devices, rather than use any sort of shell. So, I did so with my first live show using Flux this week. I had my Sixth Sense 2.1 fired up and readily available - just in case. Sure enough, something in my finger palm hold accidentally shut off the Flux. I guessed at the first which-hand attempt and fortunately got it right, then switched the SS 2.1 in and finished the routine unscathed. My which-hand routine offers a guaranteed chance at $5000, so I'm extremely relieved that I brought my SS along.

To be fair, Flux has a longer range than SS 2.1, but the haptic response is much more subtle and the on/off *could* be tricky, as in my first time out with it. Flux is also lighter and slimmer, which I really liked. Craig has fantastic products and superb customer service, but I'm selling my Flux on the Cafe and going back to SS 2.1. It's never failed me in well over ten years.
Magically Yours,

Magical Michael
