Does anyone know a store that sells color-changing silks in a wide slection of colors? When I perform Dream Bag I thought it would be a nice touch if when I produced each silk before each box that I could change the color of the silks. I need the colors Red, Yellow, and Blue. I do not care what colors they switch to, just as long as they are all different. Thanks!

The only place you could possibly get custom color changing silks is from Richard Hughes.
Richard E. Hughes, Hughes Magic Inc. 352 N. Prospect St., Ravenna, OH 44266 (330)296-4023 http://www.hughesmagic.com They will be expensive, but you will have the best. He may 'ring in' on this thread and confirm for you. Rice Silk King Studio only make them in Red to Green. http://www.silkkingmagic.com/Rice's%20Color%20Changes.htm If you wish to make them yourself, Tarbell Course had the instructions in the course. |

If Richard can't help you, try Abbott's. They might have what you want. Or they may be able to make it. Try Richard first, though.

Silk King Studios has single color changes that change from red to green as indicated above by wmhegbil. We also have double color changes that change from red and blue to yellow and green. The the bottom of the same thread in wmhegbil's post http://www.silkkingmagic.com/Rice's%20Color%20Changes.htm will show you them. The blue has a bit more of a purple tone to it than is shown on the website. Web photos are never exactly true to colors.

Yes, I can make up custom color changing silks.
Years ago, Horace Marshall ( mey mentor) made sold custom silks to match the color changing plumes. First a guy could change the color of silks then the plume. Drop me a line what size and colors you need.

As the importer, I can assure you that we keep at least 17 combinations of the Double 4-color change in stock all the time. These are the real 18" silks and not the 10" synthetic toy.

Wmhegbli, you wrote If you wish to make them yourself, Tarbell Course had the instructions in the course. I can't find it in Tarbell, but it is in Rice's book. Could you post what Tarbell vol. it is in. Thanks Owln_1

Instructions for making a self-contained color changing silk (and several variations) are included in my Dollar Store Magic Book #2 article, "Color Change Silk Gimmicks." However, for the effect you describe, you might consider using Eleazar Goodenough's "Pop-Over Silk Dye" from the Wizards' Journal #9. Too many kids get the standard self-contained color changing silk in their magic sets these days, so anything that employs the least amount of sleight of hand baffles them.
