Hello All.
It looks like Reese has come with his second release ready for us. After the success of Navigator I’m looking forward to seeing more from Reese! I found the ad copy on his ad on Facebook: Permission to share my brand new effect (It's the first in a series of things I'll be sharing this year) Pocket Pal by Reese Goodley (DOWNLOAD) A twenty plus minute act small enough to carry in your pocket. Pocket Pal enables you (on the fly) to be able to perform - Pin code divinations Drawing duplications Symbolic readings A.c.a.a.n Q+A 4th dimension telepathy Sneak thief Playing card divinations Number divinations Impromptu Book tests (using borrowed books) When utilising Pocket Pal you’re only limited by your imagination and after just holding Pocket Pal for a few moments your head will be buzzing with ideas. Pocket Pal can be used as a forcing, peeking, switching and impression device - It for the most part does all the work for you. It’s a workers dream (in size and practicality). The download contains detailed instructions on what you need to prepare this little beauty (you will likely have everything you need at home) for less than 4 pound (5 dollars) you’ll be able to create your own “Pocket Pal” in around 5 minutes and once created you’ll instantly be able to perform clean miracles with no practice required (though practice is of course encouraged). Peter Turner sits in on this download to ask questions, add insights and is even taught how to use the pad and adds a guest performance or two! This is the first in a series of ideas that will be shared by Reese Goodley and certainly sets the bench mark of things to come. Pre-order now and all orders will be processed (emailed to purchasers) by Wednesday 13th midnight (U.K time) and after that the Pocket Pal will not be available until after Blackpool magic convention. 20gbp (23 Euro) (26 USD) PayPal - goodleyreese@gmail.com And there is a trailer here: https://vimeo.com/316406877 The trailer doesn’t show a lot - Reese talking to the camera and holding the device up, blurred out. I have my suspicions what this may be looking like, but the Intrigue is interesting. |

Sounds intriguing but why does a download need to be pre-ordered?

Video didn't work. It said... Uh oh something went wrong, then kept spinning.

Navigator was a great read - Straight forward and clever. I’ve purchased this, can’t wait to get into the download.

Could we get the dimensions and the material it's made out of please? What's the closest thing it looks like please?

I'm confused. The trailer ends with "please don't take my word for it, pick yours up today"
Surely we need to take your word for the fact it's any good. You are after all the one selling it. No one else has offered an opinion so all we have to go on is your word. By saying not to take your word for it are you suggesting you're not to be trusted and it's soon to be bottom drawer garbage? Here's an idea, instead of making a trailer of you just talking about the thing (which we can't trust as we can't take your word for it) make a trailer of this thing in action and then people can decide whether to buy it or not. |

I’ve spent a lot of time with Reese and he would probably say “Don’t trust me” - Not because he isn’t trustworthy but because he’s so humble and mild mannered that he would always want people to make up their own mind. He doesn’t have a malicious bone in his body. Adam shot the project at my offices (both of them) and in my house - The reason the trailer is so simple is because of the request by Reese to film it that way - he wanted to not put out a fancy hype trailer with screaming reactions, he wanted to keep it simple and straight to the point - that is what he requested. Eitherway the trailer was shot someone was going to complain. The same with this download it’s straight to the point no fluff - In regards to what this is I don’t know how much Reese wants me to say, so I’ll say what I think is fair - It’s as small as a deck of cards to carry around, the download is simple and straight forward and the construction of the pocket pal is easy. I’d say most of you being Mentalist’s will have this thing already, we got four for like a pound (at the pound shop) as spares in the download. I personally wouldn’t use this (just because it doesn’t suit my style) - “wouldn’t” is a stretch because I would to toy with it - but I’m not a massive fan of things that do the work for me. Same with wallets/ electronics etc. They’re just not my style but if that is your bag then you’ll love this. Reese has and does always encourage honesty and this is a great little utility (I won’t deny its cleverness). Pete |

If it's going to be out there in front of your audience, I'm assuming it's not a concealed gimmick, then surely there should be no issue in the buyer seeing it in advance. For anyone to consider using this in a working environment it would need to look completely innocent and completely justified for you to be carrying it with you. If that's the case, lets see what it is. If not, why not? The only reasons I can think of to not show it is, 1. it's not particularly innocent looking, 2. its not particularly original, or 3. the not showing builds up the intrigue and the marketing hype. |

Reese was the first to put it all together like this and it takes away from Reese coming up with the ideas and piecing it together. Reese didn’t censor what it is Adam did and it was his decision as the person cutting together the video in Reese’s best interest - Reese is that much of a nice guy he’d probably tell you anyway - but I wouldn’t encourage anyone to take advantage of his better nature. But Reese isn’t interested in hype I can assure you of that. Pete x |

Out of curiosity I purchased this and after reading Ed Wood’s post I naturally had some reservations. I contacted Peter about another subject (mainly me requesting changes in his customer service - which I’ve posted my opinions and expressed disappointment about in other threads) and the conversation got onto Pocket Pal. I can with certainty confirm this is natural in appearance (because it is an everyday item) and it is rather clever. I can also see why it was censored, if you purchase this please don’t post here what it is. From the two messages I recieved about this I could create this now and if it works as described (which I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t) then it would save carrying a peek wallet, a packet of cards, billets, gimmicked books, forcing pads, crib sheets, indexes and other items. The only thing that is a potential worry for me is that I like to give my business cards out at gigs and this makes doing effects with business cards a bit obsolete. For close up workers though it will make your life easier, as it does in essence do most of the work for you - However from what I gather the switching element there is a little work required by the entertainer. I’m looking forward to the download now - For me this is simple and direct. Happy customer.

I too am a happy customer and will be posting my thoughts in the next few days. However my lips are firmly sealed as to what this is. But I am pleased.

I've got this and the first thing I want to say is - great job, Reese.
It is absolutely something that will have you thumping your own head saying things like, "of course", "why didn't I think of that" and numerous others. Great for close up, walk around, bars, etc. Does Reese borrow ideas from others? Of course, and he or Pete, gives them the credit they deserve. Is it a utility device? I suppose you could define it that way. Does Reese show you numerous ways to use this and how to construct it the way you need. Absolutely! With great input from Peter Turner (and shot at his new studios(?). The video provides you with clear, concise, demonstrations and handlings that you will find very helpful and could easily be used as an example of how to do videos.. One note. My personal preference runs to having the explanation immediately following the demonstration. Here they come after all the performances so there is more going back and forth. (That's a really minor thing from an old fart like me.) I'm not going to go into the specific effects. Mitchell has listed them above. You can speculate until the cows come home, but why even bother. For $26 it's a no brainer. Buy it immediately. Thank me later. Preston |

Too much for me and not knowing what it is and a DIY and I don't know this cat. Not to say he's not upstanding and a good creator/performer just never heard of him and don't know his style.

While I'd have to say Jaizon/Preston's one of the handful of people on here whose opinion I completely trust, I hesitate a bit not knowing what it is...I suppose a demo cannot be shown because then you would know what it is.

I took the plunge thinking if it wasn’t up to what I expected then I’d come on here and be the first to say. I was happy with my purchase and to answer someone’s query about construction above there is no skill needed here its harder to learn to lift a double. David. |

I'm the same, don't know what the item looks like so don't know if it'll suit me...
Is it something you attach some business cards to, is it a sh#n*r, could be anything... Seems a shame...
