I have seen the video & read many reviews!
I would like feedback from performers who have done this live in front of an audience. Is it as good as they say? Is it having the reaction you expected? Are you happy with this system? Any feedback appreciated--I am thinking of adding to my niteclub act instead of Zombie which has been a huge success in my own shows! Thanks for your time. -Brent |

There is a seperate thread on this topic somewhere in the forum. All I know is that the secret is not different.

Thanks for the reply but unfortunately my collegue probably will not use this for a while in public. Hypnosis is his main profession and this takes priority over magic shows, even though he is a very competent magician. -Brent |

Hi,
Here is some background to the "new" Sphere. In fact it isn't new at all. It was first marketed by Dirk Losander many many years ago here in Germany (I think it was in the early 90's). It was Dirk's so it was called Floating Ball. But it used (as it does now) the technique that was invented by Tommy Wonder for his Floating Birdcage without permission, so the production was stopped. The first price for it was about 500 DM or 250€ or $295. It was sold out quickly. About one year ago I asked if he could make another one for me. He told me he could but it would be this time at 1000 DM or 500 € or $590. Not bad huh?! That's what I thought and was lucky to get one for less than $100 on E-Bay. Anyway my point is: the technique is great, because the secret hides inside the ball. For me it doesn't look that natural; the ball is tooo big and the silk is limited to a too small size. What I do like is the technique used; it allows you to do some great effects and of course the red colour (not again something with glitter or silver or gold). I personally got what I think is a great routine for a customised Zombie (the technique is different to the classic and the design has changed to fit my style). So my advice is: if you liked what you see on the demo, go for it and buy one. It is worth your serius attention. Even if you could make one on your own for less than $10, but that's another story. Cheers Philipp

Phillip-
Thank you so much for your advice. Much appreciated. I too thought the ball was slightly large and at times the cloth seemed irrelevent to the routine!! Does this affect a lay audience reaction!!! wmhegbli- Thanks so much for the thread link- very helpful. Cheers -Brent |

Encore sells a the Losander gimmick only for $20 for his standard Zombie routine. It is on his DVD that can be purchased on his web site.
I suggest you purchase a Zombie from Morrissey Magic and use the Losander gimmick. This gives you a better Zombie presentation and you are not as limited as with the oversize Wonder/Losander sphere. If you have read the other strings on the Café about the Sphere you will note no one can get over the relation between the sphere and the cloth. Personally, I think it is what it is. If you do not care for any of the features, then move on to something more to your liking. Many Café members say they purchased the Sphere, but none have reported back, except to say they opened the box and the ball was fragile and needed special care in transporting. Many of the points this Sphere has, are more to resolve drawbacks that only in-depth thought has brought to the surface. They have answered these hurdles to the best they have to offer. This of course brought other limitations to the surface. |
