But there are a couple of issues: for me it's really hard to judge the quality of the effect by just reading "the effect description" part in a written form. I tend to judge if I like a trick on the overall: effect, method, presentation hooks. Unless you have a fervid imagination (I don't) it's pretty hard to get an idea. So seeing the creator performing the trick is for me really helpful. For this reason I love the mixed approach that Kaufman is using in some of his books of bundling a performance DVD (e.g. "The magic of So Sato"). Also sometimes if a trick has appeared on video, it might make sense to purchase as single download as often, and David Regal is one of them, the creator expands a little more on the nuances of the effect than say in a 5 trick DVD. At the end the market regulates itself.

Well, gotta say, this is brilliant in the simplicity of its method. Super easy to do, and terrific impact. Will be including this in my card set....

I did this for my wife. She absolutely hates card magic.
She loved it. |

There is so much usable materials in these two books. I am shocked they can both be had for under $25. At least you will have a head start if he continues to release single trick downloads. But man, this was a good series of books. As was Approaching Magic. But as not to derail the thread, both Sticky Transpo out of Constant Fooling 2 and/or the renamed Modern Transportation is one heck of a routine. No reason you can't palm the gimmick in during any routine card set. |

Vols One and Two are in transit and will be in my greedy hands Saturday ($11.20 ea from my secret source for the best sale prices ALLWAYS during these "Murphys Clearance sales" that have gone on 3 - 5 times since the beginning of last year). Several sites, all with the exact same items basically for anywhere from 50% - 75% off kind of screams distributor clearance. Anyway, whatever it is... WE WIN. I picked up "Close up and Personal" last year (also cheap in one of these sales) and have had his dvds for years. I will be looking for "Approaching Magic" in the near future (as I am a bit of a completest). I had seen this effect on his Penguin Lecture and didn't think a lot about it at the time. Mostly, I assume since there was so much more great stuff on that one. I am happy it is in Vol 2 and I will give it a deeper look now.
I love magic books. I really love that you can kind of skim over an effect and not see a lot there but a year or two later, it gets released (like this one) as a stand alone and you find out you already have it and can suddenly get excited about it again. BUT, that is not the best part. The best part is when you go back to re-look at that effect and find two more that really speak to you. Often they will even play perfectly right before or after the effec t that brought you back. Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.

I worked with the instructions for maybe an hour, and got it down pat. That's how dead easy this effect is.
I'm lovin' it!

I had a couple of audience management issues regarding my pocket at the completion of the trick...I've come up with a way to end cleanly in the case an audience member wants to take a peek into your pocket.

Can't believe you would allow audience members to insist on looking in your pocket! The only time I have encountered such requests/demands was when I performed for family members, who are always more demanding (read: rude) than other spectators.

Jeez...glad I don't have family members like yours! Never said I allowed specs to look in my pocket...or did I?

Easy to do and easy to set up. Worth the cost of the download. Presentation on the trailer is to drawn out for my taste but the trick itself and explanation is great.

Love this effect, been doing this for a while now...
I use a blank face deck. I give the spectator any random card to sign and then I show them my “invisible deck” When the spectator has cut the deck etc I ask them to spread through the cards to find their signed face down card... as they are spreading the cards I’m pointing to random blank cards naming each one with a card value suit etc, when the spectator gets to their card I tell them I’m going to remove a card.”I’m going to remove this Ace of spades” I remove the blank card and complete the effect... it gets fantastic reactions when they turn over the ace of spades and you remove their signed card from your pocket. Just my take on an effect that reply fools people |
