Anyone been to the 2019 David Copperfield show and can provide a detailed review?
If you were visiting Las Vegas for the first and possibly only time what magic shows would you
attend? Been a fan of magic for a long time, think Copperfield might retire in the next decade?...

I was there about a year ago (among other trips). Copperfields Show is very unique, lots of high tech., well thought out routines. Itís very much worth it. I will say DC is a very inconsistent performer. Sometimes heís on, and sometimes heís just going through the motions (this was true when he was touring as well in my experience). If youíve never seen him donít miss your chance. Heís a legend for a reason.

Penn & Teller and Matt Francoís shows were the 2 best magic shows that Iíve seen in Vegas. To me, these are the shows that feel fresh and super high quality. (Johnny Thompson is involved in both of them and it shows.)

Copperfield and Mac King come next. Both of their shows feel a little dated in places, but both are true masters of magic and are very worth seeing.

If I had to pick just one, Mac King! Don't assume this is just an afternoon family show. Saw plenty of people there without kids. My poor wife who has been subjected to more magic than should be allowed LOVED it. I took note of that because she is not impressed by much!

Having said that I saw P&T when they were on Broadway a couple of years ago and they are as great as ever, you couldn't go wrong seeing them.

I can't comment too much on Copperfield as I saw him live in the early 80's twice, but not since then. I would imagine he's still worth seeing especially if you've never before.

If you want a more detailed review of Copperfield's current show I can give you one by the way... I don't want to give too much away but the show has been basically this for a while now....

Moto Shadow Box
Special Guest Levitation in Audience
Lottery Prediction (pretty much the best prediction style routine you'll ever see... and the finale makes it a true "Grand Illusion")
Squeeze Box (this was gone last time I saw him I think... maybe it's back?)
Balloon Popping Trick
"Word Collection Trick" which is kinda a prediction I guess.
Floating Rose
Webster the Duck / Duck Bucket
Alien Routine (This is the brand new "classic" DC style routine that combines storytelling, theatrics, small magic, and huge illusions into one long routine / story. Parts of it are cheesy, parts of it give you that warm fuzzy "This is classic Copperfield" feeling, and parts of it will make you go "oh wow.. how did that just happen?"

And the Finale is his new "Best Friend Frank" routine which again is classic Copperfield storytelling meets somewhat predictable grand illusion.

The show seems to repeat itself alot. There are 4 major "large object" appearances during the show. And there are several other vanish / reappearances of people / small objects (like ducks and aliens). Its just a lot of stuff appearing and disappearing. There's also 3 different prediction type effects in the show.

Like I said.. there's thing's you aren't going to see anywhere else in DC's show. There's a lot of new technology used. And it's a great show staged in the classic DC way.

Yup, thatís the best friend frank. I was trying not to spoil the surprise! Ha.

Itís been almost a year since Iíve seen the show, but itís been in for a while now as the closer (4 years?+).

He's been getting reviews like this for years:
https://www.yelp.com/biz/david-copperfie......ate_desc

Many of them say he's "phoning it in."

I consider Mac King for a textbook example that magic isn't about the trick, but a means to bring out your unique personality. Highly recommended.

FWIW I just saw P&T's one night-stand show at Harrah Rincon Casino in San Diego County. I can only say that it couldn't give them better than a C+ rating. But again this is a stripped down show whose biggest prop was large whiteboard.

Late to this but I echo the Mac King comments - fantastic inexpensive afternoon show. P&T always great and they mix up the material so every time I see it the set list seems to change. DC - I have seen him "on" and "off" but worth seeing if you haven't before.

I saw David's show in October. It was the best show I have seen him do in over 30 years. Really off the top. Great story line, some warm fuzzy moments, and great audience interaction.
Mac is always a top act no matter where or when you see it. I am surprised P&T. When I saw them, as a touring one nighter, about three years ago, it was top notch magic.

Just saw Copperfield. I was quite pleased. It was my kidsí first experience. They said ďamazing.Ē Thatís what itís about for me.

I had to constantly remind myself to watch the show from a spectatorís perspective instead of allowing myself to see the illusions from a magicianís eyes. The storyline that starts at the beginning and continued throughout made the show very theatrical. I liked that aspect a lot. I felt that Copperfield truly tried making the experience special for the audience despite the fact that he does the same show 2-3 times a day. Professional stamina. The tickets werenít cheap, especially since I opted to sit close to the stage. But I would go again given the chance. I saw him live back in the 90s and about a decade ago. Each time was a different experience. All wonderful.

Got to see Copperfield again this week. No flying box... same show heís been doing for a while now (no squeeze box, no duck).

Honestly, it was the best Iíve seen him in many years. He had a few challenging guests that caught frisbees and he really had fun with it.

My all-time favorite DC routine is ďThe FanĒ where he goes through the giant fan and ends up in the audience. His current show doesnít include the fan but it has an awesome vanish and he does end up in the audience. If I recall correctly it was part of the larger ďAlienĒ set. So cool.

Iím so glad that heís continuing to perform the prediction routine involving the Cadillac. I wonít go into anymore detail so as to not spoil it for anyone, but that one routine is something everybody should experience at least once in life!

No need to worry about "spoilers"...Copperfield's newest promo on the side of the MGM Grand, does that for you...

I just went to see his show a week ago. David seemed to have good energy, yet delivered much of his dialogue at a rapid fire pace. Some of what he was saying was almost unintelligible...And, I was sitting in the front row.

Great photo mark. That was designed by Homer, he teased about it on his Instagram but I didnít know when it was getting installed. Very cool.

Glad his energy was up. Iíve seen him all over the map over the years and I picked a good show when I was out there around July 4th this year, he was the most ďonĒ I had seen him in years.

I sat in the first row of booths (so kinda second row?) and had never sat that close for his Vegas show, I was kinda surprised how much I... umm saw. Was that your feeling from being on the front row?
