K Of D Why not learn Ray Cosby's Raise Rise...by the time you can do it you'll probably be vice president of a major corporation and won't have to worry about the cost of cards. If you don't know the effect the card rises up the pack of cards face down but protruding for half it's length...extremely magical...extremely difficult!! I have seen comments posted to the effect that this is one of the most difficult card tricks to perform. I can't do it before you ask!!
A slightly easier but similar ending which I use is Elevator by Chris Kenner. A face up card protruding out of the deck gradually rises until it is on the top. This can be found in the book Out of Control. |

How about the card losing it's ambition and first sinking to the bottom of the deck, a few times, then going off to the card case for a nap?

Is this right? or is it meant to jump off the deck or something? It just doesn't seem that amazing to me... K of D

Not sure what you asking there. About getting the card into the case? Or perhaps about how the pop-out things plays to audiences.
The card into case methods are fairly well known and in print. From a slightly gaffed case so some clever sleight of hand, it's not a huge challenge.

Two endings I have used:
1. The card is spun out from the deck and caught with the same hand catching it on top of the deck with the right thumb. You can use the move from Tarbell, Long Distance Spinner (I have two others of my own I usually use). 2. Have the card rise out of the deck slowly. Now it's clearly on "top of the deck." I use Gary Plants method which he sells. |

I like and use the Paul Gertner ending of producing the signed card from the card box.
But for this classic effect you could palm it off and remove it from your pocket as many others have said. Or your wallet or load it under someone's drink. You could also do the card on the forhead. And in fact it could become a running gag. They are all good endings.

KoD, instead of having the bent card look like it pop thru the deck to to top, you could have the card spin off or flip over at the right moment. There are a few ways to do these moves, it just takes some experimenting.
Personally, I like the pop up move. I also like to go into a "Homing Card" routine similar to Carlysle's in "Stars of Magic" series. There are so many things you can do. You could pretend to end the ACR and go into Dingle's "Too Many Cards" using the selection as the finish. McBride's "Kundalini" rising card effect could be combined too. |

You place a couple of dozen cards on top if it and squeeze the pack. All of a sudden the card pops to the top of the pack. For people who don't know about DLs it's pretty darn amazing. For those of us to do it's pretty darn dull. Unless you see Steve Mayhew do it that is... |

No spectator thinks about a dl(if you do it right). a simple DL can create great magic.

I usually do the classic Brau Pop-up move. It still plays well to an audience and is easily achieved. I have heard great things about Daryl's finish to the ambitious card, but I've avoided it because of the amount of set-up that people have complained about. I personally prefer tricks that don't need much preparation, but that's just me.

I do the Pop-up move, followed by Card to Wallet. People freak when they see the card, folded, signed, and in a zippered compartment, when it was supposedly in the deck just moments before.

I've always been thinking about adding a Card to Wallet routine to my Ambitious Card. However, due to my limited budget now since I have to pay for college expenses, I haven't been able to afford one. Right now, I am using the "Anytime Card to Wallet" which is a brilliant effect thoughtfully sent by Peter M. An ACR ending with it going to the wallet would be a kicker ending!

Jaybs,
I use the Professional Card to Wallet and recommend getting it when your budget allows. Not only is it a great Card to Wallet routine, but it's also the best everyday wallet I've ever had. Shane Wiker |

Larry, Bill Okal has been doing that as far back as I can recall...at least a good 40 years! And I doubt it was original with him!!!

Thanks Mike, I didn't know that! I hadn't heard of it before I saw Bill's routine where he says, "...And I don't even have a pocket...." I'm surprised I didn't know better given how long I've been into magic...of course, at this age, the memory ain't what it used to be.
Thanks Mike, I didn't know that! Sorry, it's the memory thing. |

That's Okay Larry, we forgive you ... this time. Just to make you feel better - I think Bill's Line " ... and I don't even have a pocket" is original with him.
Cheers,

Yesterday, Tenyo Co. held their 46th magic Festival. The performers were :
Dolphin Magic Company kazuma Sato Akira Fujii Ken Masaki Max maven Akira Fujii is a close-up maigician who became a TV star very recently. He did Ambitious Card on the stage of Mitsuloshi theater (550 seats) with TV screen, but his performance could be seen directly from the farest seat. His Ambitious Climax was an astonishing one. He bridged the signed card strongly, show it and insert it in the center of the deck. Then it appears on the top. He doesn't use Double Lift as in the usual method of this effect. Hideo Kato |

Hideo Kato.. as you know, don't mind the method (though it might be interesting) it's the effect...as you know, they don't (or rather shouldn't) know about the possible double lift -if and when used..
Learn a few things well.....this life is not long enough to do everything.....
