Am presenting a company course on the use of MS Word for writing memos.

Interested in any tricks/patter that would be apropo to an adult class.

Here are a few that I thought of thus far:

1. Rope -- The tangled problems we get into and how MS Word can help.
2. Gel Powder -- Challenge students to soak up as much information as they can.
3. CD's -- Magic done with the program installation disks.
4. Coloring Book -- Something with Svengali effect and Word user manual.
5. Nail Writer -- Ask different people seperate ways they use Word and then predict their answers.
6. One Ahead -- Any prediction method using Word tips given by classmates.
7. Fire Book -- Patter refering to reading other "hot" MS Word books to increase knowledge.
8. Big Money -- Inflating bill demonstrates power of thinking BIG.
9. Magic Butterfly -- The beauty of change and how to use Word to get better results.
10. Squircle -- How do you get a square from a circle? How do you turn a problem into a solution?

Thanks,
Tod

Hey Tod,

The effects are great, sure to perk interest of an otherwise boring topic.

But would presenting so many effects take away the real purpose of the course? Which is to teach MS Word?

Cheers
Isaac

Isaac,

No, only plan to do one or two of them. I merely posted this list to get the fire stoked a bit.

Oh in that case great!

I like One ahead, because its relevant to your subject in this case. And since your course students should be quite intellectual, the trick will appeal to them.

And I like the concept of square circle leading to the idea of turning problems into solution. And square circle is very baffling and visual!

You could finish with a multi-color rope link: tying things together.

Todd,
You might check out Wild Magic (http://www.wild-magic.net/catalog/index.htm)
Tom Jones' and Rachel Wild's lecture notes, Kiddies to Korporate, has a host of ideas such as you are looking for.
