Just giving a shout and thanks to Mark Mason (J B Magic UK) and Thierry (M.K.S Coin Gaffs - France)
Living in the UK the shipping costs from the USA can be quite off putting so I was looking for something closer to home and/or cheaper shipping costs to the uk. Since returning to the practice table after many years of inactivity I thought I would treat myself to some new gaffs. I still have my trusty johnson shells from 20 years+ ago (still superb quality) but I sold a load of props and books I no longer need and put the proceeds towards the following - 1 - J B Magic UK. I always liked the look and feel of walking halves but never owned any gaffs. Mark Mason set me up with an expanded shell and a couple of copper / silver gaffs. Took approx a month because the copper/silver gaffs were out of stock which was no problem. Mark kept me informed throughout and the gaffs arrived safely. Superb service and communication. Gaffs are excellent with the shell being nice and deep. Price and shipping costs were great value. This is now my 'go to' set and already have many hours on the clock. 2 - M.K.S Gaffs France. I decided to treat myself further and shopped around for a set of 5 shaved and remilled walking halves + unexpanded shell. This set is so nice I dare not take it off the practice table and use it out in the real world... well not exactly true but you get my drift. Thierry was easy to deal with via email with excellent communication. Gaffs took just over a month and arrived via tracked secure mail. Shipping costs were great value to the UK. Sometimes you just feel like giving credit and thanks. Cheers all Nev

Hi Nev.
Just to clarify, are the copper/silver gaffs standard c/s, walking liberty/penny ? I thought about getting one of these from Bob/Mark, but can't see them on the website. Was it a custom job ? Jim |

Jim - yes standard c/s gaff with walking half and english penny. I emailed Mark asking for them along with the shell. To be honest I never checked the website to see if they were sold separate. I guess it was a custome job sort of.
Cheers Nev

Ah, I see. I'll send Mark an email. I did think it odd that a standard c/s gaff wasn't on the main website, especially as it's a very common coin.
Thank you very much for your reply. Jim |

Some things you just have to ask for. I have some really nice custom coins and or sets from Mark and Bob. Always a pleasure to deal with.

I agree about Bob and Mark being a pleasure to deal with. I had some custom stuff made by Bob many years ago when he was in the UK. I still have one of his original Double Deception sets from about twenty years ago, although gimmick wise I tend to only use an ex ] and a c/s coin these days. Jim |
