Is there any tricks that will show how we are created and not just evolved. If there are ideas, not neessary how the trick is done, I can figure that out.

Put some love, dirt, sin and an image of God into a change bag. then pull out a man.
Just an idea

Nice! Good idea, R Summer, I think that could be a neat way to share a message about creation vs. evolution. Which is a subject very close to my heart and one that I have been very interested in for a long time.
It seems that a lot of the gospel effects are a bit more overtly evangelistic in nature. I currently do not have anything like this that illustrates a creation vs. evolution message. Not that this issue is not or cannot be evangelistic, don't get me wrong. I think it is an important issue to help bring some folks to a point where they can trust the bible. If this can be presented and explained logically to be a reasonable scientific position then sometimes a person can become more open to hearing other messages, i.e. the gospel etc. Thanks to DRKPTRS1975 for bringing it up and for your idea also R Summer. The only thing I disagree with in your suggestion, R Summer, is adding sin. I hope I don't get this thread off topic but I don't think sin was a direct ingredient when God created Adam, so I would leave that one out of any similar presentation that I would do. I think it would be cool to contrast both theories by dumping in a pile all of the ingredients (except love) to just sit there without a designer/creator then add the same ingredients WITH love into the bag and you as the designer/creator illustrate how the ingredients were made into the first man. Or something like that, I think it has good potential as a lesson and for a bit of comedy too. Anyways, I am hoping to hear other ideas along these lines and I will be trying to come up with something as well. GlenD

Hi,
A live animal production could be used (to show how sudden: God speaks and it happens, there is no long slow process from "ooze" to a rabbit) Glorpy or any moving, animated silk, rope or otherwise (to show "sort of" what happened when the breath of life was breathed) Sands of the Desert - just a nice visual trick using sand (dust) to emphasise how God formed the body and where the outer-body will return. On another note: I once used a coke can modified to shoot a confetti bottle. The string hides behind the can and when you pull it, the confetti shoots out of the can. While speaking on the theory of the "big bang", I asked the kids what do you get when an explosion occurs (start shaking the coke can up & down), ask again, "What do you get when an explosion occurs?" (act as though you are about to open the can onto the audience) most will scream back at you that you get a mess! People will be covering their eyes & faces! Stop for a moment and explain that you are not "a mess" and you don't think that they are a "mess" or a "mistake", they are too important for that! Explain how we are fearfully and wonderfully made! - Shake the can and pop the confetti, they will shreak with joy. PM me for info on where to buy the can.
Aim high and you won't get your shoes wet.

I remember a sand and water routine done years ago on TV by Doug Henning. I don't remember the details of it, but it involved pulling DRY colored sand out of various bowls of water.
I'm just throwing this out as a brain-storming thing that we could grow on. Maybe using this effect to draw dry sand out of the water and into a change bag to form man... Well, it's a start. Paul |

Hindu Sands, or Sands of Time are a couple of names by which that effect is known.
I recently ordered Hindu Sands (not yet delivered). I actually bought it becuase I saw it perfromed on Stage recently and loved the impact of the effect. But now in this context, I will be thinking of how to employ it. BroDavid

Exactly!! Here's the explaination from Tannens:
This outstanding classic effect, as performed by Doug Henning on national television, can become a stunning reputation maker in your magic act. A bowl of water and three bowls each containing a different color sand are shown. You proceed to place a handful of each color sand into the bowl of water and stir it, mixing the sands together. Then you are able to reach into the bowl of water and pull out each handful of sand (separately!) and return it to its bowl. It Is completely dry! This is the original version of Hindu Sands. Item # T-648...Price $ 40.00 You can use these optional chemicals to change the color of the water mixed with sand. CHEMICALS FOR HINDU SANDS Item # T-190...Price $ 15.00 =========================================== Actually, the effect is even better than I had remembered. This brings about some great ideas... Let me just brainstorm a bit: Gen 1:2 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. With the formless and empty, you could simply swirl the sands aroung in the water illustrating the "formless" aspect of it. "Darkness was over the surface of the deep". This is a good place to turn the water (though not OVER, but within) to black. As for the spirit of God being over the water, one could do this rather simply with dry ice. I don't want to trivialize the Spirit of God in this, He's so much more than just dry ice, but this is a good illustration and adds a bit of theatrical effect to what you're doing. I don't know about you, but I just love dry ice... it's always been fun and somewhat mysterious. Gen 1:3 "And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light." This would simply be illustrated by turning the water back into a clear state. Gen 1:9 9 And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear." And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground "land," and the gathered waters he called "seas." And God saw that it was good. At the point that you qoute "and let dry ground appear", reach in and pull out the dry sand. Next verses talk about producing vegetation from the dry ground... just off the top of my head, I'm thinking you could pour the sand into a chop cup or something like that and then pour the sand on the table. A little m**-d******** swirling the dry ground on the table while you l**d some "vegetation" (tomatoe, orange, etc) into the chop cup and product it on top of the sand... Another option here would be to put the sand into a dove or chick pan and then produce the produce <grin> Gen 1:15 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. Maybe use Finger Fazer here? What's the other effect like this that produced a bright pure light at the tips of your fingers? Anyway, you get the idea here. Next few verses talk about the creatures of the sea and air... use your imagination here and note that all sorts of productions can be done. I'm thinking of Diamond Jim's Little Fishy... or something else. May want to use a fake goldfish because of the chemicals you've put in the water. Of course, if it will work, those feeder goldfish are meant to be eaten anyway... so it's up to your ethics. In Gen 2:7 you'll find the account of God forming man from the sands of the earth. There are tons of possiblities for this... with the dry sand in hand, you can do all sorts of effects to illustrate this. The ideas are endless. Wow! I'm reading this and thinking I should really put some effort into putting an entire routine together. Done right, this could be one mighty powerful 15-20 minute routine. Wow... Praise God for putting this all on my heart. Now I need to step out in faith and start to put this together. I'd love to know if anyone else does anything with this. I believe these things come from God and therefore, they belong to God, not me. So, if God says it's OK... enjoy! Paul |

Very Well Done Paul!
I am now more anxious for my "sands" to arrive. Thanks for sharing that! Bro David

The sands/Genesis is interesting.
Starting with the bowl murky/formless and proceeding from there, is interesting. Ending with some dry sands, clear water AND some (lots?) of sand on the bottom of the bowl (earth) might be a memorable image.

There is a dealer item known as the Color Changing Bag(and perhaps by other names as well). There are also Story Bags and Gospel Story Bags. These bags can be turned inside out to show a different color several times. The story bags often have a print fabric.
I use the Gospel Story Bag which tells the story of Genesis 1. A neat feature of these bags is that you can put silks in the bag with any face (color) showing to be removed during your performance. Mine also has a zippered compartment on the final face (a print of a variety of people). From this compartment I remove a large "Amen" silk.

No I don't have ideas, but once you find some just lecture your spectators why evolution could not have occured, such as, how do we have perfect/fully functional bodies? why do we have laws? What happens to life once a person meets death (to be absent from the body is to be in the presence of the Lord)? and why do we have "voices" in our heads helping us make a decision? And for the Big Bang Theory, ask them how can something so random be so perfect?
I hope you get my point.

For older audiences you could use a deck of cards that has been thoroughly mixed, and you shuffle it and cut it a number of times and then show that it has "evolved" into new deck order.
How is this possible without intelligence guiding it? It's not, of course. That shows there must be an intelligent cause to the order we see around us. Carrie |

I do an egg bag routinue which ends with a surprise rubber chicken load at the end, which leads to the "what came first the chicken or the egg" and then I do a teaching on creation versus evolution
