The TT back steal? Who invented it? I’ve seen both mentioned on the Café.
Confusion abounds. Any (verifiable) history out there? |

This specifically with a TT or more generally using a dye tube or the salt vanish gaff ( as in the Baker shaker ) ?

I believe it was Cal Emmett who came up with the back steal idea for the Vanishing Cigarette in Handkerchief. He taught it to a lot of people in the Texas area. I learned it from Bill Palmer who was taught the move by Cal.

I've also seen Patrick Page listed as a possible creator. He used it as a way to steal the gimmick as the hand is turned over. This is in his lecture notes (Patrick Page's Lecture Notes) and in Magic Page by Page.
