I'm looking for a new headset mic set. Something mid range, easy to set up and preferably something that can easily plug into onsite PA.s/sound systems/DJ and band speakers.
These are the two I'm looking at, both by shure: The BLX14 - MX53 https://www.shure.co.uk/products/wireles......nter-set The BLX14 - PGA31 https://www.shure.co.uk/products/wireles......dset-set Anyone used these? Thoughts? Anything else you'd recommend? |

Hi Ed,
I’m not familiar with either set, but I have friends who are happy with Shure products. Personally, I’d go for the earset mic, rather than the over-the-head set. Much less obtrusive and cumbersome. My own set-up was a Countryman E6 earset mic, which I had the company modify from omni-directional to directional. This made it much less susceptible to pick up other surrounding sounds, and also helped to prevent feedback. My wireless transmitter and receiver of choice was Sennheiser. Hope this helps! Arthur |

Just having to have replaced my last Shure mic after 16 years of use, I bought the Model PGA31 you mention in your post. I am very happy with it so far. It's very easy to use and set up. In fact my sound system is battery powered and I have made a battery pack to power the microphone as well.
