Hey gang,
If you are a collector of the pasteboards then this latest project from my pal Will Roya at PlayingCardDecks.com will surely interest you. Will has taken the time to reproduce two classic decks from days gone by. These packs are normally tough to find intact and normally very pricey if you do find one. Late 19th Century Playing Card Reproductions - Vanity & Faro Limited Edition Sets Printed By USPCC - Art Has Been Digitally Hand Painted From Scratch Based On The Original Decks ABOUT THIS PROJECT... After having created several modern original decks of playing cards I have recently been inspired from playing cards from the past. And in this campaign I will present you 2 of my favorites; the Vanity and Faro. Both of these deck were originally produced in the late 19th century. The Vanity deck is based off of the famous "Vanity Fair" transformation deck copyrighted in 1895. The Faro deck is based off of the Russel & Morgan Squared Faro first printed in 1887. The Faro deck was supplied to casinos for the game of faro and is more of a "workers" deck while the Vanity deck would be considered more of a "novelty" deck. Special thanks to "The World of Playing Cards" for providing a source of information on these and many other historical decks. The Vanity Deck came in a variety of different backs and I chose 2 of my favorites to reproduce. The original pack came with one joker but I decided to include 2 of them and with contrasting colors. I was able to obtain an original Vanity Deck that was scanned and then provided to the artist in order to recreate all of the images digitally from scratch. Special thanks to "Playing Card Exchange" for offering me the deck. NOTE: When the rewards are ready to ship I will pick one lucky backer at random to include an original gilded copy of the "Vanity Fair" deck pictured above. A $500+ value! Although I was not able to obtain an original faro deck, their was enough hi-quality images online to recreate the art off of it. A prototype printing was done just to make sure all of the art looked right. Although the original deck had squared corners, the reproduction will have the modern rounded edges. We also added 2 jokers. To learn more about the faro game and the faro shuffle Click Here! FEATURES OF ALL 4 DECKS; VANITY GREEN & RED, FARO BLUE & RED):

"All the cards were created, illustrated and hand painted digitally from scratch, with the very specific technique even used in digital artwork (to be as close as traditional historical one when cards was made by inky, stamps and brushing colors through stencils) as first was only inking , and then used only brushing through the "virtual stencils" with colors red, blue and yellow which by covering and multiplying each other created the other color (that were not picked and colorized there) such as green, violet, etc, that appeared on cards (as optical multiplying effect)... and then somewhere "shadows" also brushed additional through the colors for shading by "grey" lightly dirty color or so..." - Azured Ox FULFILLMENT... Besides being a super backer, I have successfully completed and delivered several of my own campaigns as well as helping & collaborating with other creators. I really enjoy the process of creating decks with the artists and working with backers to bring the decks to life. I am in a fortunate situation to be able to cover some of the costs of producing the decks but without the help of the Kickstarter community I would not be able to bring all of my projects to life. Creating these decks is a significant investment of time and money and I am grateful for any and all support. If there are delays or issues they will be communicated and dealt with in an open manner. As always, I appreciate any feedback. You are welcome to reach out to me directly at any time and I will do my best to get back to you in a timely manner. Will Roya PlayingCardDecks.com ---
