I suspect the effect is almost as old as numbers themselves, but does anyone know an actual origin of the old "Magic Age"/"Birthday" cards? I found ads for them in 1927 (Popular Science Monthly) and 1879 (The Youth's Companion)... but that's the furthest I've found in print.
