Bose S1 Pro, and the Sennheiser EK 100 G4, with a good headset mic.

I agree with Tony. I own two Bose S1 Pro units and love them. I, also, own the Sennheiser wireless microphone setup.

Hey, folks, I'm currently looking at upgrading to this: A Behringer PPA2000BT. Anyone have any personal experience with the brand or this model?

I've used a lot of Behringer gear (although not this particular unit) and have had good luck with them in general. Any of the packages in this price range are going to give you pretty good results. I do have trouble believing the "2000w" power claim but it should give you plenty of gain for most medium size venues. If you need a fuller output you can always add a powered sub if you wanted for more punch. Invest in some good stands and cables to get the speakers as high as possible!

Thank you, Ray... I know from your posts you know your stuff when it comes to this type of thing. As far as the power claim, what don't you trust about it? Is there something else in the specs that I should be noticing. I purchased a system a few years ago on the recommendation of another member and I've quickly outgrown it. ( Carvin SB600). I'm looking at school gyms, school assemblies, that kind of thing.

This system should be perfect for that. Dealers tend to throw out numbers on power of the amp that don't mean too much. You typically only care about the power of the amp in RMS (Root Mean Square) which is the power it can continually generate. They are probably quoting 2000w peak which isn't sustainable and not a number to go on. I'm guessing that if they quote 2000w peak you'll still be in the neighborhood of 1000 - 1200w RMS which is plenty! You'll be getting distortion from the speakers LONG before you get to those numbers.

It has a lot of stuff like the reverb features that will be pretty useless but it does have some feedback detection which will help you ring out the room to get a little more gain out of it which is very handy. It's only a 7 band EQ which won't give you a very narrow notch but it's better than nothing.

All in all, I would definitely use it!

I’m not a sound person but am impressed with the new Mackie Free Play Live. 15 hours on battery or use A/C power and 150watts.
