Hi I'm posting this on behalf of Jack Tucker because he doesn’t have a Magic Café account -

“Hello everyone, Jack here, hope you all are doing well. I was recently scammed by a magician and I want to know if there’s anything I can do about it.

In February, a magician named Akshay Badiani told me for £50 he'll design my business card with a prediction. I needed a new card design so I sent him the £50 on PayPal. After that, he sends me this pathetic design with even my name spelt wrong: http://prntscr.com/nhcakn

Needless to say I was disgusted. PayPal couldn’t refund me as I had paid him as “Friends & Family”.
I requested Akshay for a refund but he said he couldn’t as he paid it to a magician named Rob Scott who designed it. But Rob said that he never got paid!
After I showed Rob’s comments to Akshay, he said he paid a 2nd designer named Phil Shaw. Phil said he never got paid either: http://prntscr.com/nhcdbl
The whole thing was nicely put by Karan Singh: http://prntscr.com/nhcpfq

The design obviously didn’t need 3 designers and wasn’t worth £50. Debjit Chaudhuri even started making the same designs for everyone for FREE just so that more people wouldn’t get scammed by Akshay: http://prntscr.com/nhcq1q

I confronted Akshay with all this and he sued me for defamation for £1300:
http://prntscr.com/nhcfzi
http://prntscr.com/nhcgcg

I posted the above screenshots on Facebook and a real Lawyer commented the reasons why Akshay had no grounds for a defamation suit: http://prntscr.com/nhcha2

After all this, Akshay was promptly kicked out of both the magic groups where these discussions were taking place on, DFB and Magicians Only: http://prntscr.com/nhcpnl

I kind of figured I wouldn’t get my money back. But that’s when a friend of mine showed me something which shocked me!
Akshay was taking donations for a fake Indian school at this crowdfunding site: http://prntscr.com/nhdc9k

The campaign looked like a scam as he didn’t mention the name, address or contact info of the school. And the worst part is, he had already collected thousands of dollars for this. I immediately contacted the Just Giving site: http://prntscr.com/nhcm9r
After their investigation, they took Akshay’s page down: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/indiaschoolproject

I can live with me getting scammed out of my £50 but this is too much. How can someone even do all this!? I am deeply disturbed and am wondering if there is anything I can do.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.”

Lol yeah I had to make a lot of business cards. But it didn't take too long. Just pasted people's contact info under that Superman picture Smile

I did witness everything happening in the group but I wasn't aware of that crowdfunding thing. I've spoken to Akshay on a number of occasions so I'll ask him about it.

I think what we should take from this post is that we should never pay strangers on the internet as "Friends and Family".

Looked into his account. I can kinda see why you trusted him Jack. He looks pretty decent to me. But it just goes to show you that you can never trust a person online. Hope you learnt a valuable lesson. Let me know if I can help you in any way.
