For those of you that perform Paul Gordon's Corner Of Piccadilly 4 card monte packet effect off his Gold Dust DVDs, do you prefer to use regular playing cards or the older antique looking longer cards and is there any benefit from using one over the other ?

Great Trick... I actually bought it from Paul some years ago as a single trick booklet, which came with the antique cards.

However...I always performed it with regular cards... same as whatever deck I was using.
I dusted this off a couple of months ago, and had to relearn it.
After much soul searching about a signature, I decided not to have one.

Like professorwhut I use a regular deck, I have many monte effects and like to keep the cards consistent (might just be me being a bit ocd Smile )

Well I finally tried this effect out today at a last minute booking, I ended up using just regular cards for the effect and I pleased to say it went down very well Smile

I use the red Ellusionist 1800 Vintage cards, if you buy 3 decks you'll have enough card combos to last a lifetime. Still my favourite monte trick after years of playing with others.

I have three sets - regular cards, larger antique style, and new super-deluxe style. It's such a great trick that it works in many situations. Gambling demonstration, history lesson, etc.

Wondering if anyone uses the ‘new’ set that Paul Gordon advertises? After releasing several versions of this trick. He claims that with this ‘new’ set he “finally got it just the way he’s always wanted it to be” (paraphrase). Supposedly the printing quality is much better. Problem is that it is impossible to find this version. Here is the link to see Paul himself endorsing his new product:

The NEW cards work much better. It's easier to make the moves and count as they align an slide perfectly. I have both the old and the new -"Bespoke Old English cards"- and have made it with regular cards too. The new "OLD ENGLISH" cards are great! I definitely recommend these

Best,

I'm a big fan of CoP. I've used several different sets. I prefer the older style cards. I've used the antique Faro style Bicycle cards. I also use Spanish style cards and have bought the necessary number of decks to assemble the packet! I'm so addicted to the effect that I also print my own cards. Here is a sample printed on U.S. Game Systems blank face tarot cards.

I forgot to add that I bought 3 Piatnik Tarock decks also. Those give enough sets for a long long time. I bought one set first to see how easy the moves were with the Tarock size. They handled easily after a couple of minutes to get accustomed to the size. Then I bought the additional 2 decks.

No problem I have used it at paid gigs and it gets killer reactions.
