Feels like we are in another slight downturn in interest and activity in the Bizarre world. Not a lot of new topics being discussed, and definitely a slow down in products being released by our favorite dealers. Prof BC has been on a long (and well-deserved) break, with no original creations in years. Alchemy Moon is still chugging along, with Artifactum items and occasional one-offs appearing briefly and selling out, but nothing like their precious output.
Definitely not complaining, as I know this is an art form with ebbs and flows. The vacuum isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as it encourages some new blood to appear. I’m even putting some thought and energy into creating my own stuff, and I’m finding DIY material and add-ons to effects and props I own to be quite a fun and creative undertaking. So, what are others of our fold doing during this temporary wintertime if the Bizarre? Or am I mistaken in my observation..? Seth |

On the contrary - I think Bizarre is seeing an uptick in mainstream attention.
We're seeing more and more bizarre acts on the big talent shows. There's more bizarre conventions cropping up. There's other online groups developing as well. I think the bizarre creators are just not focusing on the Café as much these days.

Man has a great point!! We definitely are seeing more acts of that type on the competitive shows, and it definitely does the job of creeping out the judges and gives the craft good exposure. I might have been premature at proclaiming a slump in general... perhaps it is more on the creator/consumer side more so than the performing side.

I've noticed the sell of bizarre props on the Café' are a bit of a slump with sellers finding it more difficult to get the price many of the effects deserve.

Yeah, I’ve noticed that too, Willie! It has become more of a buyers’ market...

I hope the situation does turn around though.

Well, here is a very new release (so new it's not out for a couple of more weeks) called The Crow. You can play it for fun or for creeps: https://youtu.be/-G_5sxkY3Gk

Most bizarre performers tend not to be chasing after the latest (shiny?) prop anyways.

Quite right--bizarre performers avoid the shiny props and chase after the dusty and stained ones!
But look, if I hadn't started this thread, would I have learned about the Crow? (Which looks awesome, btw!) Every slump has a silver lining..! |

Gemini and Dr. Todd... history has shown this to be a winning combination. I can’t wait to hear more.

Lebanon Circle is a full time venture for me and business has never been better, in fact it can be quite overwhelming at times. Bizarre is booming if you look in the right places. Quite a few Spooky regulars have left the scene and newcomers are not automatically heading to the Café, they’re getting their fix elsewhere. Don’t ask me where though, social media probably?
I think we sometimes all need to remind ourselves that the scene does not revolve around the Spooky forum. I may be wrong, but this forum partly served as an Outlaw fan club and we all know what happened there... Darkly Dan |
