Okay, for all performing hypnotists (or non-performing hypnotherapists)...
How do you get started in hypnosis? Start out with self hypnosis, then find a willing victim (*cough* subject) to practice with? Or is the only real way into the art to attend some kind of course? Second question... What about practicing cold reading techniques and effects based on that? |

Indeed it's a good idea to try self-hypnosis first - then you can tell your client ( ) how it feels like later.
Experience the art first for yourself, maybe get hypnotized by a mentalist you know. Then start reading. Read every book, every article you get. I'd recommand everything from Milton Erickson - this guy roxx!! First read books on the "serious" (not entertaining) kind of it, used by hypnotherapists, in order to understand the mechanics. This gives you very valualbe knowledge. Then read some books on stage hypnosis. Actually I don't remember the book titles that were useful for me, as I "discovered" a lot on my own. hth |

If you're wanting to get into Stage Hypnosis, definitely purchase Ormand McGill's New Encyclopedia of Stage Hypnosis - this book is pure gold in my opinion.
