On the recently aired "Masters of Illusion", Joshua Jay did a trick with two decks. At the start, spectator chooses a card; so does he. The revelation at the end is that both decks match card-for-card, and so does the card that each selected at the start.
Is this a commercially available effect? |

I think he teaches it, or something similar, in his Penguin Lecture

He calls it the Trojan Deck on his second Penguin lecture (IIRC, it's also on his Reel Magic lecture). It was going to be marketed as a stand alone item by Card Shark, but it hasn't been released.

I saw him do it at his "Six Impossible Things" show, and it blew me away. My favorite piece. I bought the Penguin lecture to learn how to do it. It takes some work to set up and perform, but it would be worth it in the right situation.

Yes, also on the Reel Magic lecture. It's good in the right setting as you can see. Very clever, though the slightly odd split of the cards when he "displays" the other guys shuffled deck to "check how you did" annoys me. I *know* that no one notices, especially laymen, but that was the part that gave me that "hmm... something's happening here..." feeling when I first saw it, and... it is. Kinda.

I subscribed to Reel Magic Magazine and watched Joshua's routine. Very clever (Trojan Deck). It takes a little arts and crafts plus something special (available from Card Shark). If Joshua ever decides to market the effect, I'd buy it.

Looks like this is being released as a marketed item later today.
Looking forward, as long as it doesn't use something 'special' applied to cards line r+s (just something I don't tend to use)... |

Absolutely no rough and smooth and no deck switch per se. A brilliant simple add-on. Not sure what all Josh will put on the instructions, but it would be worth it to get his second Penguin live lecture to learn the alternate uses for one of the gimmicks. A genius idea for using for a Multiple Selection routine that cuts down on the selection and return of cards and allows you to instantly produce the selections in absolutely any order you want without having to control the cards. In fact, a spectator can return the cards anywhere in the deck. Been waiting almost five years for them to release this.

Yup, no R&S and no switches. It's very sneaky and the production is top notch.

I was looking close at the blue tabled cards resting on top of the card case and it looked a traditional move for the switch, but as close as I watched it didn’t appear to be a switch still using the same blue deck. So in that case for people who have it, the spectators deck does not need to be placed on top of the card case as in that performance then?

When this is marketed with everything needed will it be for sale at Penguin Magic? Or will it be distributed to other Sellers as well? It really does look great.
Good magic to all, Eric |
