It looks good, but $50?!

https://www.sansminds.com/product/swordlace/

Product Description

Swordlace is a classic card effect that stood the test of time.
Not only is the effect strong and direct, but having the cards spring up into the air and shower to the ground as the effect happens psychologically signifies the finale and wraps the entire performance.
It’s a beautiful plot used by many of the greatest in our business. The only problem is, who uses a sword now?
Here at the SansMinds Creative Lab in collaboration with rising stars of the magic world Yuji Enei & Guillermo Dech we have taken all the elements of Swordlace, and reinvented it to our taste.
The result? Check this out.

What you received:

1 gimmick pack
1 Instructional DVD

Important: Please make sure gimmick color match your shoelace color.

Then you will have to pick up all the cards. 52 pick up.

That is the only reason why swordlace would be good but I'd be fine with a torn corner for the price

Not a good look for the magician scrambling on the floor picking up his cards

Looks like a Richard sanders effect but they’ve replaced the ring with a card. It looks cool but not very practical

It would seem that the only time I would ever think of performing this is at a casual home party show at my own house. Then I could make my wife pick up the cards. KIDDING!
I could deal with the 52 pick up I guess. Funny, because I used to do the Card Sword a lot and in many types of venues and I can't remember the scattered cards ever being a huge issue. In fact, at the moment I am considering making a Rat Trap version ala Rich Marotta's because I haven't been able to find one of his anywhere.

Sansmind PRO line is usually pretty good stuff.

I believe card sword is referenced in their marketing, as impractical because no one carries a sword - but the card sword is a stage effect and was never meant for close-up. This is just plain silly:

"Oh look, your card has been impaled on my shoelace."

"Now, would you mind helping me pick the rest of these up?"

I'm sure someone can make this work, but I'm keeping my money.

Interesting that the marketing doesn’t say a word about how easy or practical it is to get into this during performance.
Now appearing nightly in my basement.

I probably should not have called the trick silly (up above) that was inappropriate and disrespectful to the creator.

My apologies - just because something doesn't strike my fancy is no reason to disrespect the magicians who may see the value in this offering.

There is a magical moment, so for that, I recant my comment.

I don't know, I actually like the demo's of a lot of Sansmind effects, the problem for me is that they are just not practical for the real world. Shame because they have a lot of great demo effects, lol...

This is why "Threek" exists as it's a card stab that you can carry around with you using an everyday object with no mess. http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/3645
