"I have fooled sooooo many magicians with this." -Chris Rawlins Over the last 10 years Chris Rawlins has focused his attention on realizing an impossible effect: Giving a SPECTATOR the sixth sense and having THEM psychically locating a chosen card. 1. From a shuffled deck, a card is fairly chosen and fairly lost back into the deck. The cards are spread and the magic begins... 2. Taking their finger and 'scanning' the spread left to right, groups of cards are eliminated until there is just one card left. 3. Audible gasps are to be expected when they reveal that IT IS THE SELECTED CARD. GET READY FOR EXPLOSIVE REACTIONS from this semi-automatic miracle. As with all Chris' material; it is direct, easy to do and puts performance and structure first. With an ultra-deceptive method here, and no moves, there's nothing to get busted on. This is one of those great tricks that makes your spectator the star and guarantees that everyone gets on board, and as a worker for both magicians and mentalists, this is perfect for any performer of the mystery arts! Not only will you learn the reputation maker DROP CARD, you will also learn a couple of extra bonus effects that are achievable with the special supplied deck of cards. Get ready to put the spotlight on your spectator and order Drop Card today! |

Love it when they say we can use a shuffled deck. However, I wonder if there is a difference between a "fairly" chosen card and a "freely" chosen card.

What would be the difference between this and the more expensive version he sells in his website?

Not sure I understand the routine, if the spec is always scanning left to right isn't the top card going to be the last?

I believe he teaches this in his Penguin and first ATT lectures. Not sure if it's been updated or not.

Hey Everyone!
Thought I would jump in and answer a few questions about Drop Card. First of all, the difference between this and what's on my own website is that this is the latest version of this routine, that I have not taught before (not in any online lecture or in print) and what is on my website is my book 'Drop Card' - a collection of earlier versions of this effect, all VERY different from this release. This version has been around for about two years, and this is the first time it is seeing publication. The spectator chooses a target card very fairly, the deck is mixed. They begin by scanning left to right, with each choice becoming fairer (it's not the top card they end up with!) They successfully find their card. This is very fooling, very easy and has genuinely fooled sooo many magicians, but more importantly, has entertained and amazed countless members of the public. The effect came about after an obsession with this plot, that initially started with the first version of Drop Card, that you can find on my Penguin Live lecture. It has grown, and become it's own monster. Best of all, this is within everybody's grasp. I'm very happy to present to you all, Drop card. Christopher

So for those who have the Penguin lecture, that older version uses a technique that not all performers like using (IS/DR).
Chris just kindly told me via PM that this new one does NOT use either of those. I think that's worth noting. Definitely interested to see what he's done with this.

I remember seeing Ricky Jay perform a very similar routine, and seemingly from a brand new shuffled deck.

Christopher Rawlins -- I'm confused. Wasn't your 2016 release called Drop Card an effect with an alphabet deck, in which the mentalist reveals the initials and name of a friend thought of by a spectator?
This new release seems to be an entirely different effect, yes? (A very nice effect, too.) Cheers Jerry |

On Jul 10, 2019, jerdunn wrote: Jerry, you are correct, in 2016 I released a book titled 'Drop Card' that was a collection of effects that I have created that all began from a card routine of mine. In the book I teach my variations on the effect, using scraps of paper, playing cards and other things, building up to the 'main event' which is a routine with a thought of name and alphabet cards, and the spectator finding certain letters from the name. Even though that book is very different from what we just released over at Penguin, it is still linked to the book and my original routine too. Not in methods, but certainly in my own creative development. This effect can be presented however you like, as a straight card effect, with a mental flavor, with all the emphasis on your spectator or multiple spectators. What's amazing about 'Drop Card' the single trick download is that it is SO FLEXIBLE and SO EASY. I am confident that you will all enjoy this and use it. I hope that helps! Christopher

My question is, I paid for your limited booklet some years back, does this 20 dollar download tip the method contained in that book?

I watched Chris teach Drop Card at a workshop in early 2016. It’s a fantastic routine, that’s super fooling.

I found the Ricky Jay performance - Sword of Vengeance.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IX9adPALLzA&t=2s It is not the exact same effect as Ricky does it as a prediction rather than having the spectator select a card. But it is still a brilliant performance which could certainly be adapted to Drop Card. |

I am curious about one thing that might be interesting.
In Chris At the Table 2, at the very end, he demonstrates, not explaining, something, that in my opinion, is the same version seen in this new Penguin release demo. When was this ATT2 published? |
