Hi guys,
I’m really interested in the way you take care of your fire wallet during walkaround. I‘m not talking about tricks but maintenance during a gig. How often do you need to „refuel“ it, do you walk into a corner after every fifth table/group, do you do anything against the odor, is it really practical at all to use a wallet the whole evening? I’m really interested in your insights. Thank you P.s.: and please don‘t get into argueing about wether to use a fire wallet or not, this is the topic for that kind of discussion

Hello!
I use to use the Theatre Magic 2.0 Fire Wallet for a couple years for my strolling set. I would fill the pads right before I started walking around and it lasted me a good two hours. I would carry an eye dropper filled with zippo fluid just in case. Also it all depends on what type of fire wallet you are using. It has always been a memorable thing that the audience seems to remember. Jonathan Molo www.JonathanMolo.com |

I fuel my wallet in the morning and it lasts all day. I not only use it in my restaurant work I use it as my regular wallet so it is always ready to go.
The wallet I use is the The Inferno Fire Wallet pros - Huge Flame, can be used as your regular wallet, places for money credit cards ID etc Cons - Thicker than most fire wallets (just think of a regular hip pocket wallet that is really stuffed), the flint is awkward to change but it can be done. With any flint wheel fire wallet I have found they are not one hundred percent reliable. The way to keep them pretty close to one hundred percent is to change the flint when you start to get fails. Most people don't know that even if you are seeing a spark you still may need to change the flint. You can get replacement flints and Zippo premium (low odor) light fluid at any smoke shop. Zippo Premium says low odor on the can. It's not no odor but I think it's better than the others. One thing that helps with odor is step back a little and don't leave it open too long. |

Any open flame effects, including candles, have been a problem for me with local venues.

I've done the fire wallet for over twenty years and have had no negative comments from the audience, teachers, or restaurant managers. I'm just reporting my experience not commenting on anyone else's'

When using your fire wallet in a restaurant I don’t use it every table, with that being said you can usually notice when it will need to be refilled. It will be. Bit harder to ignite. Once you close the wallet to put out the flame I like to very quickly open it soon afterward to allow some agitprop to get to the pads. This makes for easier lighting at the next table. Don’t forget to carry extra flints in your case .

Like Jonathan, I also use the fire wallet 2.0 by theatre magic. It works so well, and I fill it prior to the gig and it always lasts the entire gig. It even lasts through trade show gigs where I'm performing for long periods of time. I always carry extra lighter fluid that I keep inside a zip lock freezer bag just in case. I keep it in my close-up case that I keep in the green room/storage room. I've never had to go back and add more lighter fluid, but it's there if I need it.

I use it with a prediction routine...I explain that in my wallet I have made a prediction. Four cards are then shown to the spec, each has a different element written on it, EARTH,AIR,FIRE,and WATER. A basic force leads them to choose fire. I then reveal that the prediction I made is indeed correct by opening my wallet. ALWAYS gets a great reaction. Perfect opener,at least for me!

Peppermeat2000 I like that presentation. After the fire, you could say "The last guy picked water and I was drenched all night"

Why ruin such a wonderful effect with a bad joke? It is so good the way it is, to drop a joke on it is simply not necessary.

I would never want to ruin a wonderful effect with a bad joke. I happen to think my suggestion is a good joke. Or to be more accurate I think it could be a good joke for some performers.

Let the magic speak for itself. And Yea it is s bad joke. Especially when juxtaposed with the effect.

Why even bother forcing an element? Whatever they say, open the wallet and say “No - it’s fire”. Quarter of the time they’ll say fire anyway.

Anyone have any word on if they'll re-release the Fire Wallet p2.0 (Theater Magic). I LOVED that wallet, it's just mine has run out.

Buy a Large Eye-Drop bottle and empty the eye drops into the sink.
Rinse bottle with water. Use compressed air can and blow out the excess water (Hoo/H2O). Spray Paint bottle Black. Fill with lighter fluid. Now you have your lighter fluid in your pocket to re-soak your Fire Wallet. Which you will want to do on the down low, like in the bathroom. You may want to keep bottle in a plastic bag just to be sure it won't leak. I know a magician that used jet fuel and got a better/bigger flame. Good luck getting jet fuel.

If you buy the fire wallet I mentioned you will not need to refuel it all day. I fuel it in the morning and it still works in the evening.
