There is one expert in this thread who has dissed Yeost in another thread and suggests a different plug in.

I tend to pay attention to his posts because it appears he does his homework. His previous mentions of Yoast were complimentary, from 2014. SEOPress came out in 2016. My use mirrors something he mentions, the 'spamming' of Yoasts dashboard with suggestions to upgrade to the PRO model. I ignore those and just do my work. It's not unusual for any company to at least try to convince you to upgrade to their paid version. He knows more about it than I do, so there may be more compelling reasons, but I haven't found meaningful ones in the reviews I've read comparing the two to support his opinion that "Yoast sucks".

Both have 5-star ratings.

Yoast has over 5,000,000 installations on Wordpress alone compared to SEOPress with 60,000+. Yoast runs on more than 9 million sites and on 11.4% of the top 1 million sites in the world. I'm comfortable with its ease of use, ubiquitous reach and results. If Mike has specifics that expands on his current opinion, I'd want to hear them.

Great thoughts Keith. I did look at SEOPress, but being that I'm a novice I couldn't figure it out very well.

Sorry for not being around more...
We just moved from Metro Atlanta to just outside of Chattanooga TN.... Been a crazy quarter..

sooo let me sum up Yoast and why I don't like it (=

I personally REALLY don't like Joost (he is the guy who founded the company) and in the past some of the things he did with the plugin to give himself an advantage I feel lacks ethics.
That is a MAJOR influence on why I dislike it.
The other aspect is simple.. It becomes EASY to OVER optimize with it... It's the stupid little green dots.. 9 out of 10 times if you get em all green the content is weak and your site looks spammy to google.

9 out of 10 times... Yoast will do well for you. If your doing high end technical SEO builds and need more control it tends to get in the way and you end up beating your head on the desk and eventually will uninstall it.
Here is an example...

This is a Crawl Map of a site I am working on ..
Each green dot is a page in the site. To get the site to spiderweb like that I had to get rid of Yoast because its not designed to manage a site at this scale and ends up breaking the technical SEO.
SEOPress is smaller (less code bloat), doesn't slow the site down, and when the site starts to get over the 100 post mark it doesn't start to implode due to bad internal linking.

Hopefully that clears things up a little.. As far as all the other "Gurus" out there.. seems most of them are no longer in entertainment or SEO...

OHH Al... add a LINK to your website in your profile signature... Themagiccafe is a POWERFUL Thematic Relevant Backlink (HINT HINT)
