Hi all,
Just thought I would mention that I have begun work on a new book titled: "They Escaped! - An Illustrated Look at the Golden Years of Escapology". This book will not be a "how to" book but instead will be a volume containing photos and promtional materials from the careers of performing escapists dating from Houdini's era to the 1940's. This will eventually be released by a known publisher of magic or historical content books. It will contain many of the paper artifacts in The Escaporium's collection. It is going to be fun documenting and presenting the past history of this unique performing art! Regards, Steve Santini |

Hey Steve, another great book idea. How do you keep coming up with them? I'll be anxiously awaiting it's release. Keep em coming!

Hi Ken,
From one carbon dated escapologist to another... I admit it; I learned everything about escapes from these here cave drawings left by my not so distant ancestors. Matter of fact, we are still using the old homestead these days. Talk about dating ones self! In any event, I'd rather be Neaderthal than Piltdown anyday! (This is just a little archaeology joke here folks. Those who "get it" win a prize). Cheers, Steve |

And if you do three degrees of seperation from Piltdown you come back to Harry Houdini.....alegedly.

Steve "Banachek" Shaw was looking into making a book like this. B's a great guy, but it looks like he lost out.

You shouldn't have said that Steve, you know I'm going to try it now

Scott,
I am sure that if Steve Shaw released such a book it would be great! I have a great deal of respect for him as both a mentalist and also as an overall performer. That being said, there is no good reason why two different books on the same subject could not be released by two different authors. Such things happening provide different scopes and ranges of information for us all. This is always a good thing! Regards, Steve Santini |

Steve,
actually I have three project in the works right now, that one is way on the back burner. I would just like to see it happen no matter who puts it out. A beautiful coffee table style book. I think some escape pictures are awe inspiring, others are works of art in themselves. If there is anything I can do to help, please, by all means ask. Maybe after that we could get one done with more current escape artists, sort of a sequel.

Hi Banachek,
Thanks for the offer of assistance. Would you be interested in a joint collaboration on this? We have in our museum collection MANY rare and seldom seen photogrpahs and promotional materials from the careers of many vintage escapists. Also letterheads, posters, and vintage supply books and catalogs from dealers in escape products. Go to http://www.escaporium.com and look at some of the images of these items we have. I agree with you that this should be a full colour coffee table style book as many of the images lend themselves to this format. Please PM me regarding the above project. My best regards, Steve Santini |
