Curious about people's opinions on creating a life style around card hustling/cheating. How many people actually find cheating at cards to be their main or substantial income? When I was younger, I played in games around my college and city. A lot of times they were self-dealt. Any game worth it's mustard now has a dealer. So unless you are the dealer for these underground games it seems there is little opportunity.

Why else would we hustlers invite the cheats to the game?

One might find great opportunities in games around one's college. Fat cats send their heirs to college and high stakes games are often based on credit. See Asper's school days.

Actually, we are thinking of moving to Oxford, it is about the only city in England without a casino. It is halfway between Birmingham and London, which are the two main poker centres here. It’s a nice little city: home to Oxford University and many colleges and so the town is naturally full of students and I am sure we would find little difficulty redistributing a bit of family wealth. Really I think I could just do with a holiday.

Hustling is essentially the act of full-timers persuading part-timers to gamble with them. Hustling is more practical than mechanics in the professional poker game. To the professional, every part-timer with money is an opportunity. One first wins the trust of the sucker because as the Suicide King said: “Money itself, is a derivative of trust."

I assume that there are groups of people who would deceive you into thinking that a private game was not rigged, but in reality the dealer would be working with partners to swindle you out of your money. I suppose that is more of a con than it is 1 cheater going around and stealing from people.
