Curious about people's opinions on creating a life style around card hustling/cheating. How many people actually find cheating at cards to be their main or substantial income? When I was younger, I played in games around my college and city. A lot of times they were self-dealt. Any game worth it's mustard now has a dealer. So unless you are the dealer for these underground games it seems there is little opportunity.

Does this imply that no game with a dealer can be cheated?

Why else would we hustlers invite the cheats to the game?

We had CNN and MSNBC fact check this number (6), and it is 100% accurate.

Since the objectivity and accuracy of reporting and fact checking by CNN and MSNBC is beyond reproach, the answer is definitive.

One can only find this type esoteric information on "The Gambling Spot." Smile

One might find great opportunities in games around one's college. Fat cats send their heirs to college and high stakes games are often based on credit. See Asper's school days.

I don't know if this method is financially feasible anymore.

One would have to be a student enrolled in college (often but not always) to take advantage of playing in these games. Since the cost of many colleges, where significant money is to be had at these games, is almost prohibitive nowadays, 50-60-100k per year or more, I don't know if enough money can be made in these college games to justify such huge upfront expense.

Further the financial obligation of student loan debt for many years into the future is prohibitive????

Hmmmm, maybe going just for the education would be a better idea, learning something useful and worthwhile and forgetting about being a card cheat.

However, it is hard to ignore the social status and the feeling of self-worth that one can attain by being a card cheat.

Actually, we are thinking of moving to Oxford, it is about the only city in England without a casino. It is halfway between Birmingham and London, which are the two main poker centres here. It’s a nice little city: home to Oxford University and many colleges and so the town is naturally full of students and I am sure we would find little difficulty redistributing a bit of family wealth. Really I think I could just do with a holiday.

Hustling is essentially the act of full-timers persuading part-timers to gamble with them. Hustling is more practical than mechanics in the professional poker game. To the professional, every part-timer with money is an opportunity. One first wins the trust of the sucker because as the Suicide King said: “Money itself, is a derivative of trust."

I assume that there are groups of people who would deceive you into thinking that a private game was not rigged, but in reality the dealer would be working with partners to swindle you out of your money. I suppose that is more of a con than it is 1 cheater going around and stealing from people.
