I have a standard restaurant supply waiter’s folding stand, of the sort they use to put those big round serving trays on. Does anyone make a nice tabletop that could be set atop such a stand to transform it into a table suitable for standup magic?

Ideally with slats (?) on the underside for the top of the stand to fit within, so that the tabletop cannot slide back and forth or side to side, but will remain centered and relatively secure?

I would try Velcro before adding weight to the tabletop. If you own a circular saw, just get a board and cut it, then glue felt on it. Done! You could spray the felt with that waterproof spay they sell for cloths and furniture. I have not used it in a long time, but I would think it is still around.

You want a none slid surface, along with some edging to stop things from rolling off the tabletop.

At some home improvement stores, you could even have them cut the size you want. You do have to buy at least 2 foot by 4 foot piece of birch plywood, at least a half inch thick. Have the cut two, so if you mess one up, or have one as a backup, just in case.

Spray paint the bottom any color you want, but use Bin primer, 1st, then the color coat. If you cover the top with vinyl or cloth, get the vinyl with cloth backing and it will glue on easier with spray adhesive.

You can do it yourself much cheaper then having anyone do it for you, as you are looking at over a hundred dollars for a place to do it for you.

I have made a few of these without putting legs on them. They work fine on my Keyboard stand (which is similar to a waiter stand). I ended up using headliner material (for cars, inexpensive at JoAnn's) wrapped around a foam board (school supply section of Walmart) and set in picture frame.
