I would like to know if card conjurers wear "special" jackets that make it easy to add/remove cards from pockets, especially side pockets. Would anything with pockets that can be reversed (to show they are empty) fit the bill? I am hoping that any "normal" looking jacket will do. I don't want the kind of professional magic jackets/coats that are used for hiding floral bouquets, beautiful assistants or rabbits. I was wondering if there is a preferred type of normal looking jacket.
Or does one just go into Macy's and start trying things on?

When you try on jackets, make sure you have freedom of movement that doesn't get magnified by movements of the jacket - in other words, use a mirror and do some of your card moves with an imaginary deck of cards (so you don't get strange looks from the store staff as you pose in front of the mirror). Favorite move to check, dropping a deck of cards down your jacket sleeve while you appear to be putting the deck into the inner jacket pocket(s). If the shoulders get all bunched up, they call attention to the move.

I found a jacket at Burligton Coat Factory that has 4 "inside" pockets.(2 each side) Not standard with most sport / dress jackets. You just have to look around. The brand I found was Nautica.
Also I found the perfect vest with plenty of pockets from concealedcarry.com. It's a website that caters to law abiding gun owners and the vests work great for our magical purposes. Superb quality and priced right. Made in USA.

Thank you everyone. There's a Burlington a short cab ride away and that's the first stop.

I think one really good thing for a magician is to have a wife or girlfriend that likes to sew. If they are also into arts and crafts, this is a double bonus. .
