Steve,

Would we be out of line in asking anyone who knows of any NYC magicians to let us know how they are doing? This is such an horrific tragedy.Smile

I am having such a hard time grasping what has happened! Just last night, I was looking at my pictures from my NYC trip back in May...and lots of pictures were taken of and from the World Trade Center. I just can't grasp the fact that the Towers aren't there anymore...and I saw them collapse on the news! Smile

May God be with us all as we deal with this tragic event in the history of the United States!

I do not think we would be out of line at all. This is a major event which is effecting the entire country, magicians included. Thanks for your continued support.

On a lighter note, Tuesday and tonight were my first restaurant performances since the awful tragedy in New York. I thought both nights would be akin to being dragged over a bed of nails. "Get lost!" "Go away." "Not tonight, please!" "You’ve GOT to be kidding..."

Boy, was I ever wrong! People were starving to "get away" from the unfolding events, even for just a few minutes. The tips (I tried to refuse these, but folks insisted) and compliments reinforced my firm belief that I am in the right kind of business.

Let’s take a moment to count not only our personal blessings, but the 38 blessings (as of this writing) we have here on the board. We are lucky to belong to such a fraternity and to have each other.

Good for you Mike. You are right, people do need an outlet right now. They need a steam valve. We as entertainers are definitely in the right place at the right time.

I, myself, don’t work professionally but have been doing a lot of (more than usual) performing of late to help people take their minds off this terrible tragedy. With each smile I can get out of those who watch I feel I am helping, in my own small way, to heal the hurt.

The world is in desperate need of some smiles right now. God bless each and everyone of you who go out during this difficult time and help ease the tensions. Your efforts will help to bring about healing and that is the greatest gift that can be given right now.

I, too, am very thankful to Steve for this forum and for all the great souls who are posting and reading here.

Keep up the good work and God Bless you all.

Doug

I agree... I live in New York and I can still see the smoke from the World Trade Center. I can’t believe that I will never see the World Trade Center in the skyline anymore. Manhattan is forever changed. It’s such a terrible tragedy. Smile My heart goes out to the victims and family of the victims. I personally know some of the family of the victims and I wish there was some way I could really help, but it is hard when it is so tragic... I wish the best for everyone-- may this only bring our nation together.

343 a number that that I'll never forget. It's how many firefighters died on 9/11 saving thousands of others.

There is more to what is going on in the world, than any one of us can imagine or even attempt to imagine. Let those who know and are in power to make change, ...make change.

The rights you now have are the results of the blood shed by many.

@Sebastian Black & DenDowhy:
I respect your opinions, but if you want solve this problem by war, you have to be willing to have victims on your side, like the 343 firefighters who died, saving thousands of others!

I think the MAIN question is not if it's okay to make war, the main questions is: can you solve the problem of terrorism by making war? and the answer is: as long as a few persons can capture one airplane and direct it into a building, you can't!

@sebastian: political problems can't be solved in a peaceful way?
f.e.: I know 2 countrys in the world, which are "neutral" (don't attack other countrys): switzerland and austria. and in both countrys terror doesn't exist since they are neutral!

Switzerland's "neutrality" is one of those facts that is generally misunderstood. In fact, Switzerland historically chose to be 'neutral' so that they could sell their soldiers to the highest bidder in wars, not because pacifism deters terrorists or anything of the sort. So Swiss soldiers have been very active in many wars (especially when a phillips screwdriver or can-opener were needed, thanks to their wonderful little knives...), without even having the excuse that they're fighting and killing to defend their homeland. In recent years, Switzerland's contribution to civilisation has taken the form of tennis players, such as Martina Hingis and Roger Federer, who provide ample distraction while the bankers in Zurich sort through the Nazi loot that the Swiss, in their peaceful neutrality, stored in WW2.

As for Austria, I have two words for you: 1) Adolf, 2) Hitler.

danke schon und auf wiedersehen!

Mercenarys have nothing to do with a country's army!

adolf hitler was a part of austria's darkest history ever. and I really feel ashamed what our ancestors did during WW2 and there is absolutely no excuse for it! but don't forget: he came in power in germany, he was just born in austria! in fact austria was germany's first "victim". austria was neutral since the WW2, not before!!! and your comments have absolutly nothing to do with the things I said in my last post.

nice to see that you speak german! (or was it just a google-translation??)
