The other day we watched The Gift:

1. I was born is Wisconsin in 1900 (Yup, I've been gone a while now.)
2. I was married twice and had two children; my second marriage was to a woman arguably more famous than I am. 3. Although World War One was winding down, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 18, and achieved a rank of Seaman Second Class. (Although I never went to sea)

4. In my elementary and high school days, I was a hell raiser of a student. I got sent to Catholic school and Military school. The nuns straightened me out.

5. After graduating high school, I attended Ripon College in Wisconsin. Here I became a leader in many college activities, and more importantly, had my first experience acting in plays.

6. I won a scholarship to the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, and soon did well enough to be invited t be in shows with their touring group.

I have no idea who Roscoe Conkling is, but it is not him.
8. As my career took off, so did my tendency for illicit romance. I cheated repeatedly on my first wife. I was rumored at age 34 to have had an affair with a well known Hollywood actress who was 14 at the time.

9. In one area, I am tied for most successful actor of all time. I have been nominated for the Oscar for "Best Actor" an amazing nine times, and won it twice.
