This led to tours in the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States.

In the same year, I also recorded my first LP album.

In 1967, I performed a well-received set at a pop festival, where I was horrified to see Jimi Hendrix set fire to his guitar on stage.

In late 1970, the London Symphony Orchestra invited me to compose a concerto.

The combination of George Harrison and India gave it away:

That's correct, S2000magician! These would have been my remaining clues:

After George Harrison's death in 2001, I performed at the Concert for George, a celebration of Harrison's music staged at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

One of my daughters also became a successful musician, winning eight Grammy Awards in 2003.

I was an Indian sitar virtuoso and a composer, and became the world's best-known exponent of North Indian classical music.

My influence on George Harrison helped popularize the use of Indian instruments in Western pop music in the latter half of the 1960s.

American audiences probably know me best for my performance at the Woodstock Festival in 1969.

The film trilogy mentioned above was the Apu Trilogy by Indian director Satyajit Ray, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest filmmakers in history. Leslie and I once took 2 weeks off from work to attend back-to-back screenings of all Satyajit Ray’s most important movies at the Film Forum in NYC.

The 1967 pop festival was a 3-day event held at Monterey (co-produced by my late friend, John Phillips of the Mamas & the Papas), which is generally regarded as one of the beginnings of the "Summer of Love" and the public debut of the Hippie, Flower Power and Flower Children movements and era.

Ravi Shankar’s award-winning musician daughter is Norah Jones.
