Another excellent guess, but not correct.
7. I did so well in westerns that I won a "Golden Boot" award. This is an award given to acknowledge contributions of actors to the Western genre of movies.

8. In 1964 I was approached by a man who I had worked for twice before. He wanted me to play the first "Supporting" character in a new TV series that was being worked on. I turned him down. I never did get that role.

Dan Duryea?
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Sorry Chesmann, not Dan.
9. Two years later I was on that very show. Not in the role I had turned down, that went to someone else, but in a smaller role and more minor character.

10. Somebody liked my character on that show. For seasons two and three I was promoted to opening credit status with a much-expanded role. 11. I did not think it mattered much, the show was not very popular, and barely held on. My plan was to go back to the movies when the show was done.

Chessmann picks up the win with Jackson DeForest Kelley.
12. When the show went off the air, it went into immediate syndication. Our leader's goal was to keep it in people's minds. 13. I had never done voice-over work, but we created an animated version of the show for a Saturday morning cartoon. It ran for two seasons. 14. Then we made the show into movies. This was done specifically to compete with another studio's blockbuster film. It worked. 15. Our franchise became huge. We had movies, spinoffs, conventions. Everybody knew of our work. 16. I was awarded a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. 17. All this from a humble country boy from Georgia, and you probably never knew my first name was Jackson. Freinds called me "Dee." 18. I passed away in 1999 from pneumonia. You're up Chessmann

The two items that led me to DK were a mini-doc I saw a couple of years ago on him where they talked specifically about and showed pics and clips of his work in western themed material, and the Star Trek info kind of rang familiar - particularly the promotion in the opening credits.
I'm a nerd for this kind of stuff. Gimme a couple hours and I'll start it up again.

Ok, here's one. Might be a quickie due to the holiday weekend.
I was born in 1927. I'm an actor. My wife is an actor, and we are still married. I was in a very popular TV series in the 80's, and another fairly popular show in the 90's. I was the star in a movie that is being shown tonight on a national network.

Not Mr. Emerson.
In one of the 2 TV series mentioned, in one I played a doctor. In the other, I played a teacher. In the above-mentioned movie, it is a musical in which I do a lot of singing. Bear in mind, I was born in 1927, and am currently 94.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

I am somewhat short of stature. I was also in "The Graduate," playing a close relative of one of the leading characters.

In the movie I am starring in tonight (which was made many years ago), I play a historical character in a very specific historical setting.

I was thinking Richard Benjamin, but I can't recall if he were in "The Graduate".
He's probably too young anyway. |
