8. My third husband, the abusive one, died of a cocaine overdose very shortly after I left him. 9. My first husband and I got work with a "Tin Pan Alley" type music writing/publishing company. 10. I wrote songs that made other people famous. 11. My babysitter went on tour from the strength of a song I wrote. 12. I was happy writing for other people until I was convinced to sing and play my own material. 13. In 1971 I released my biggest album, it set records (at the time) for longevity on the charts. 14. Producing giant Lou Adler helped me with that ground breaking album. 15. Someone thought my story was worth telling and a Broadway musical was written about me. 15. At my advanced age I am still performing proving it wasn't too late.

I should have gotten it earlier--I saw the B'way show about her life, Beautiful, only last fall!
1. I was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1940. 2. I was the captain of my high school's basketball team. 3. I graduated undergraduate college with a degree in classics. 4. In my schooling after my Bachelor's, I graduated first in my class.
