7. In high school, I was part of an all girl band. We broke up when I suggested my brother join the group.

Arthur, I said I would eat my hat if no one got this by the tenth clue, and at number seven you have rescued my hat as well as saved me from having to eat it. I loved her voice, and The Carpenters was my favorite band when I was in high school. I took a lot of heat from my class mates as everyone else was into progressive rock and heavy metal.

8. When I left the all girl band, I teamed up with my brother and made beautiful music
9. I was not only a great drummer, but I had a amazing singing voice with a three octave range.
10. My brother wrote a lot of our songs and played multiple keyboards as well.
11. We soon signed a record contract and set to making music the whole world could love.
12. I did not feel great about leaving the drums to take center stage and sing, but at 5'4" no one could see me behind the kit.
13. My brother and I had three TV specials on in the 1970's
14. Cliff's mentor Steve Baker once opened for a concert we did.
15. I died in 1983 from heart failure that was a complication of anorexia nervosa.
16. My drum kit is currently on display in the "Carpenter Center" concert hall, about 2 miles from where Cliff lives
17. Two albums were released after my death of previously recorded work.

Haha, Cliff! Glad I saved you from eating your hat! I knew it was Karen Carpenter when clue #7 mentioned an all-girl band and a brother.

My favorite female drummer from way back when was Honey Lantree of The Honeycombs:

My favorite contemporary female drummer is this young girl:

You got it, Alan M! My remaining clues would have been:

13. By then I had attracted a group of followers, including a former actor, a musician, a librarian, a record producer, and a porno star.

14. Although I was illiterate, my IQ was 109 (the national average at the time was 100).

15. In 1969, I inspired a murderous killing spree with the intention of creating a race war.

You're up!
