15. I sported a very recognizable haircut and mutton chops, wearing a red jacket with white trim

For anyone who's interested: My wife Leslie and I did a tribute song to Captain Kangaroo on our Make it Magic - Funtastic CD. It’s called Bob’s Your Uncle, and you can hear a short sample here (track #2):

OK, here's a new one:

1. I was born in Corning, Iowa, on October 23, 1925.

2. After graduating from high school, I hitchhiked to Hollywood, where I was arrested and fined $50 for impersonating a midshipman.

3. I joined the United States Navy in 1943 and was assigned to the USS Pennsylvania in the Pacific.

I'm interested, but I don't see a sample, just the album cover.

Arthur, I have no earthly idea how I know this one based on these clues but I was certain I knew it. I looked it up and I was correct.
I think it's clue number 2, but I'll say why after someone else guesses this one.

I didn't want to guess, I was certain you would think I was cheating.

I'm going to go rethink my life Smile

I just did. I like it. Very professional sounding for background music for magicians. Also, nice and lively, happy and uptempo which captures the spirit of Captain Kangaroo.

Do you play the string parts on your keyboard? They sound very nice.

Yes, I have an extensive library of digitally recorded orchestral instrument sounds, which for this song I triggered from a keyboard.
