Then got into show business as a tenor singer.
I also worked as a magician's assistant. |

The great Dennis Day?
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

I was married twice and had a daughter by my first wife.
My talent enabled me to become one of the most respected performers of the 1930s. |

I am sorry to hear this. I loved the man's work. Not just with Meatloaf either. He wrote the smash hit Total Eclipse of the Heart and many other tunes you might know. Rest in Peace Mr. Steinman.

I perfected my own version of a famous illusion. Accounts of my performances described the feat as a dramatic effect.

In 1931, I wrote and published two books with very similar, but quite unusual titles.

Two weeks before I was scheduled to perform my famous illusion indoors for the first time, I took my own life. I was only 34 years old.

Wow, I really thought this would be an easy one! The answer is Theo Annemann a.k.a. Ted Annemann, born as Theodore John Squires.
The famous illusion was the bullet catch. When performing it, Annemann would collapse from the apparent force of the gun, and then produce the bullet from his blood-drenched mouth. The two similar-sounding book titles published in 1931 were The Book With a Name, and The Book Without a Name. And Annemann’s magazine was, of course, The Jinx. OK, time for someone else to jump in ….. Who wants to go next? |

No takers? OK, try this one:
I was born in 1815, the child of a father famously regarded as a “bad boy”. My father separated from my mother a month after I was born. Nevertheless, after my eventual death, I was buried next to him at my request. |
