I thought I responded to Betty Garrett earlier, I wrote a post but don't see it. Regardless, no to all of the above, including Betty Garrett. Some interesting guesses here. I don't expect you all to guess the actress' name, but I wonder if you might guess the character. Anyway, I'll resume with something along the lines of what I thought I posted earlier.
-When the beloved series was cancelled, she felt suddenly deflated, and recognized how tired she actually was, just how much energy she had spent maintaining the character. -She retired from acting, but opened a children's theatre company. Though she was unable to attend reunion movies of the show, she remained close to her castmates. In fact, she later lived at the Motion Picture Fund Long Term Nursing Care facility in Woodland Hills, California, where one of her fellow residents was the actor who had played her husband on the show. -She passed on November 13, 2018, at the age of 93. |

You had us guessing there, Laurie! I never saw Little House, so I'm not familiar with Katherine.
Since I have one ready, I'll jump in: My parents emigrated from Russia to Germany before the rise of Nazism. I was born in Berlin in 1931 as the youngest of six children. Unfortunately, my father accidentally died just two days after my birth. Due to the increasing peril to Jews in Germany, my mother placed me and my youngest sister in a Berlin orphanage, which sent us to France in a pre-Holocaust exchange of Jewish children for Christian orphans. |

After the fall of France, I was among the One Thousand Children who managed to flee Hitler and come directly to North America, but whose parents were forced to stay behind. My mother died at Auschwitz.

Once in the United States, I was placed in a foster home in The Bronx.
After being taunted as an immigrant and being called a Nazi because of my German-accented English, I worked on my accent, eventually being able to speak in a perfect New York accent. |

I changed my name to sound more "American,” graduated from De Witt Clinton High School, and then obtained a business degree from City College of New York.
In 1951, I was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Korean War, where I was awarded both the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. |

Where is everybody?
Upon my return to the States I worked as a waiter/maître d' in Catskill Mountain resorts in upstate New York during their heyday. I later maintained that this experience -- as well as the poker games I hosted behind the scenes -- was good training for my eventual career. |

Tito Puente, a famous Puerto Rican musician who played at some of these resorts, went on record saying that I was keen to learn Spanish from him, but only cared about the curse words.

Not Wolfgang or Jimmy.
In the early 1960s, wanting to be closer to my sister, I moved to California, where I made contact with a radical theater group. After the group’s leader was arrested on obscenity charges during an outdoor performance, I organized a benefit concert to cover the legal fees. |

Bill Graham is correct! Here are remaining clues containing more info about him:
I saw this as a business opportunity and began promoting other projects where many ideologies were given a forum, such as peace movements, civil rights, farm workers and others. This eventually turned into a profitable full-time career and I assembled a talented staff. Eventually I had a profound influence around the world, sponsoring the musical renaissance of the '60s from the epicenter, San Francisco. I made the Fillmore Auditorium and Winterland Ballroom famous, and these venues turned out to be proving grounds for many rock bands including the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, and Big Brother and the Holding Company with Janis Joplin. I died in 1991 in a helicopter crash while returning home from a Huey Lewis and the News concert at the Concord Pavilion. The description of my funeral procession states: “Escorted by motorcycle police, more long black limousines than had ever before been seen at a private funeral in the city of San Francisco formed a phalanx for the procession to the cemetery.” Other concerts I promoted on the west coast featured the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Country Joe and the Fish, The Fugs, Alan Ginsberg, The Band, Led Zeppelin, The Allman Brothers, Bob Dylan, Santana, The Doobie Brothers, Neil Young, Joan Baez, The Who, and many more. Bands which signed to my own record labels include Rod Stewart, Elvin Bishop, Cold Blood, Tower of Power, and The Grateful Dead. Several prominent acts recorded live albums at Fillmore East, such as Joe Cocker, Miles Davis, Derek and the Dominoes, Jimi Hendrix’s Band of Gypsies, Humble Pie, Iron Butterfly, King Crimson, Al Cooper & Mike Bloomfield, John Lennon & Yoko Ono, Taj Mahal, The Nice, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Ten Years After, Traffic, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, and many more. |

I went to quite a few shows in San Francisco at which Graham introduced the act from the stage. He was always booed mercilessly (in a loving(?) kind of way).

I can't be ready with the next round until tomorrow morning. If someone wants to take it, go ahead. Otherwise I will be back Saturday.
