Well done, Landmark! I had hoped to keep you guys & gals guessing a little longer, but you got it. Here are my remaining clues:

During this time, I worked as a typist and as a mystery shopper in department stores. Meanwhile, my girlfriend and future wife landed several Broadway roles.

My many accomplishments include appearing in various TV shows, such as The Odd Couple, as well as serving as a host for Saturday Night Live. I had a cameo role in Woody Allen's Annie Hall, and played myself in the movie Power Play.

I appeared in TV shows like Kate & Allie and Cheers, and often appeared on TV quiz and game shows. I also had movie roles in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and Tim Burton's Beetlejuice.

Woody Allen and I struck up an immediate friendship after I saw his nightclub act. And I met Groucho Marx at the funeral of playwright George S. Kaufman. From the funeral, I followed Marx to the Plaza Hotel, where he invited me to lunch.

In 1964, I began a brief career as a stand-up comic at the Bitter End in Greenwich Village. I also performed at Mr. Kelly's in Chicago, and at the Hungry I in San Francisco, where I met Lenny Bruce.

In 1965, I did some commercial voiceovers, including a series of mock interviews with Mel Brooks for Ballantine beer. I appeared on Merv Griffin's talk show and The Ed Sullivan Show.

Intermittently since 1968, I’ve been the host of my own TV talk show, in various formats and on various television and radio networks. I’ve been nominated for at least 10 Emmy Awards and have won three.

I have a most unusual middle name: Alva.

My most popular talk show was my ABC program, which ran from 1969 to 1974. I am known for my resonant voice, as well as my ability to remain calm and mediate between contentious guests.

The writer and journalist Clive James described me "as a true sophisticate with a daunting intellectual range" and "the most distinguished talk-show host in America.”

I read Cavett's autobiography some years ago and some of those stories stuck with me.

1. I'll tell you straight off--my name is Jean-Jacques Rabin, but you're going to have to guess my more common name.
2. I was born in what is now Haiti.
3. I am the son of a French naval officer and his chambermaid mistress who died a few months after my birth.
4. According to ever-reliable Wikipedia, my name adorns a large number of towns, neighborhoods, and streets in every part of the United States.

Not Horatio.

7. I'm not known as an author, but my book went for 11.5 million dollars at auction--the second most expensive book ever.

8. Think of me more as an artist...

11. You may say that my work is for the birds, but it has been wildly influential.

Daniel Bernoulli?

That makes no sense because there is a gun in the portrait and he died in a world still without firearms...

Okay, Bill, we'll give it to you--John James Audubon who famously drew his portraits of birds by shooting them and mounting them in active poses.

I wasn't aware of the shooting part.

I'm going to be swamped for the next three weeks or so, so, please, someone else jump in.

I was born in Manhattan … not in New York, but rather in Manhattan, Kansas.

When I was a toddler, I spent three months in the hospital after being scalded by boiling water. This required skin grafts to cover over 35% of my body to heal.

As a child, I was fascinated by horror-themed toys. During my teens, I worked as a drag king go-go dancer in a Colorado Springs gay bar.

While on a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada, I convinced my parents to let me see a live show, where I was noticed by the production staff. Despite being only 17 years old, I convinced my parents to let me sign a contract.

I had a small role in the James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever, and played a topless dancer in the film The Working Girls.

While I have no memory of the event, I appear to have posed for the cover of Tom Waits' album Small Change.

Not Lana.

While in Las Vegas, I met Elvis Presley, with whom I went on a date. He advised me to travel to Europe and pursue a career in singing and acting.
