Hi guys,
Just letting you know that I am just putting the final touches on my new book Totally Free Will. This is due to be released around the end of October/ early November. I haven’t written the ad copy yet but this is the evolution of my thinking on the free will plot over the last 10 years. There are 8 versions of Free Will from me. These include both gaffed and ungaffed versions and some with equivoque and some with completely free choices. There is even one that is themed as a game of Rock, Paper Scissors. The title version Totally Free Will has completely free choices and a completely unambiguous prediction in play from the start. In fact the participant can hold the top half of the prediction from the start. Whilst this represents the evolution of my thinking it is not a case of one version that has been tweaked these are quite distinctive versions and whilst Totally Free Will is with me wherever I go I still use six of the other seven regularly and the other one occasionally. There are a further four top quality versions by Michael Murray, Mark Elsdon, Stephen Young and Steve Drury. Each of these contributions is worthy of release on its own. I also include the plans for 2 way, 4 way and 6 way chandaulopes. Here is the table of contents. Foreword by Deddy Corbuzier Introduction Acknowledgments Free Lunch Free Balling Three Will Free to Rock Totally Three Will Totally Way our Free Will Fuel injected Free Will Chandaulopes Quartermaster’s Coin - Steve Drury Free Will Coins - Stephen Young Contribution by Michael Murray Contribution by Mark Elsdon Totally Free Will This will be a fully illustrated premium quality hard back book printed by Haresign Press. I have no current plans for a softback or ebook version. As always the final price will depend on how much it costs to produce but I am aiming for £40 and I think it is unlikely that price will increase. I do need a few people to review a few of the versions. I won’t send out the whole thing until it is printed although a few people have seen very early drafts. As far as any review chapters I send out I would like completely honest reviews but I would ask reviewers to word their reviews in a way that does not give away too much in terms of method. Mark |

I’ve been lucky enough to have been sent some of the chapters Mark has mentioned and I absolutely love what I’ve read. Similar to the way he approached Out To Lunch in Harpacrown, Mark has applied his left field thinking to the Free Will premise with excellent results. Different methods are explored as are their presentations and everything has that Chandaue attention to detail that makes sure everything has meaning and context. I really can’t wait to read the whole book. I have a feeling it’ll be as comprehensive and inspiring as Harpacrown.

I met up with mark at Steve Wood’s lecture last week and mark shared some of his free will works in this book. They were fantastic. I don’t typically perform free will, but after these I’m seriously considering it. Super smart, workable, nice methods. It will be worth picking this up. I know I will be!

Just a bit more context. There are no weird and wonderful revolutionary methods that require strange procedures or clever use of language. Well one kind of does use a tiny bit of specific language but it is not integral to the method. I won’t say there are no clever methods, just nothing weird and wonderfully new that will change your life. I create material to use and so I use old school reliable mechanical methods that are simple to execute under performance pressure.
Another little bit of context. A very well known and much loved mentalist said that the first version of free will in this book was, in his opinion, the best version of free will he had come across. I lectured it at Minds in 2016 and immediately after the lecture Doug Dyment approached me and told me that he agrees with the aforementioned mentalist. Whilst I can’t speak for that person who is unfortunately no longer with us, my suspicion is that it was likely the context of the routine and the reason for writing the prediction in the first place that he particularly liked. Unfortunately I took the compliment and never asked him to elaborate. If I knew then what I know now I am sure I’d have asked him many things in fact I’d have been too busy asking him things to share any of my humble creations. I personally don’t think that version is the best in the book but it is still a key part of my close up set. If you love the free will plot I am absolutely confident that you will find something in this book that you will use. If you hate the plot there may be one or two things in the book that might change your mind. Mark |

I was lucky to have been honored with a couple of these routines upon showing interest in this future release. I will be totally honest, Mark and I do not really share the same philosophy in mentalism. If Mark told me he would use the material in Sibyl, I’d show you a liar. Mark performs before audiences, whereas I stopped this many years ago to only perform casually with one philosophy in mind: carry nothing. No-thing.
Excuse the blabla, but I needed to say that so you understand that Mark’s material is not designed for weirdos like me. It’s designed for people making a living out of their performances, and who carry -though really minimal- some props. Despite this, I have bought Harpacrown, and will buy Harpacrown 2. And Mark already promised to keep a signed copy of this coming release for me. ‘Why’ you may ask? Am I that rich? Or is Mark THAT a good friend? None of the above. I met Mark twice in my life, and I am not rich enough to throw away money. The reason is that Mark’s material is just GOOD. And the preview I’ve had on this just confirms Mark’s ability to weave classic techniques together to create effects that will leave any audience entertained. And more. The routines I’ve read are, as usual with Mark, written in a clear, organized fashion. No effort necessary to follow, even for someone like me, whose native language is not English. Mark’s humor here and there is something I personally enjoy very much, as I’m not too fond of authors taking themselves too seriously. These effects will appeal to most, as they can be presented as predictions or as demonstrations of influence. And what I loved is this: whereas I personally restrict my participants and give them the illusion of free choice, Mark’s routines genuinely leave them with complete free choices. They can change their mind. The freedom doesn’t FEEL total, it IS total. And while I personally need to reframe to give the illusion of freedom, here... no. No such need. Of course, the way Mark designed and uses his ‘props’ takes care of this, whereas I can only use sleight-of-tongue and cunning ploys to convey the illusion of fairness. Nevertheless, I felt kind of jealous reading ‘Totally Three Will’ for example. By using a couple of techniques and principles together Mark has come up with a routine I would love to perform, and I definitely will should I be given the opportunity to do so. I don’t want to give anything away, but your participant can literally do anything, choose anything, change their mind, swap with you -or with the item they freely chose to discard earlier, why not??-, change their mind again, and again if they wish.... and yet: you have predicted the final outcome of this game. **** me. I will not bother you any longer. I just felt like sharing my thoughts on what I’ve seen from this project so far. You don’t need to be a mentalist to understand I’m excited about this. I can’t wait to discover the rest. I hope they match what I’ve read so far (Mark, did you send me the two best routines of the book by any chance 😂?) Have all a great day/night, wherever you are. Love. Always Phedon

Only one of these routines uses a chandelope however you could use a chandelope for several of the routines if you wanted to.

Were Chandaulopes in Harpacrown?
I have to read it again soon [anyway] - I know there was a coin thing that I never got... my fault... why do I prefer [love] real books compared to videos when I don't understand them as well. I started a Harry Lorayne book and had to stop as I hadn't a clue what any of the moves were... hmm I look forward to seeing this book. I guess it's around 100 pages [?] and if it's harsign it should be a very nice thing to behold |
