Has anyone ever done an effect like a pk touch, but instead of being tapped, the participant feels like they are being choked. Mind you there is no other person involved, the performer uses psychokinesis to choke the person.

Yes. Anthony Jaquin was the first I'd seen. Think he only taught it in lectures.

As the video is private I cannot compare, but a Jedi Mind Choke effect is also part of Bigger Fish Files of Peter Turner

Why would a performer want any spectators to feel they were choking?

To paraphrase Max Maven:

Because people are often attracted to the mystery arts out of a desire for power and/or a feeling of a lack of power in their lives.

I mean they shouldn’t really choke, it’s fake and very controlled choking with their permission.
Reader discretion is advised.

To those unfamiliar with the PK Choke effect, it isn't choking like someone gagging on a piece of steak.

It's more the feeling that you can't swallow, and your throat is in a state of discomfort as it, for lack of a better word, has partially "seized up." This does NOT happen in such a way that the spectator feels danger, but rather discomfort.

This can be an amazing demonstration for the participant and for anyone else who is watching.

Peter Turner's is the most practical I've come across. That one is in the Bigger Fish Files. Jay Noblezada as mentioned has his released on Penguin and was personally for me, the first I've seen for this plot.

Also look into Speechless by Brandon Queen. It runs in the vein of PK/Jedi choke type routines. Very workable as well.

The effect I've been working on is a little different than that. In my effect the spectator actually feels difficulty breathing. They also admit too feeling a little bit panicky, but theres no real danger. I first came across the version where the spectator feels like they can't swallow in Phathom, but I felt like that was not real enough. They couldn't swallow, but they could still breathe, even with the different experiences. I'm talking about a pulse stop, but with your lungs.

That would be hypnosis/suggestions then which makes this a fallible effect due to the method being not 100% (since we are talking about suggestions/hypnosis now). So very similar to what Luke Jermay describes in Building Blocks (he doesn't have a method for a psy-choke BUT the principles can certainly be modified and massaged so that we can use it for a psy-choke, just understand that at some points you will be dealing with a DR kind of situation, you can PM me and I'll describe this in more detail if you wish and if it would help you out).

Sounds like a creepy and ego driven kind of thing to do...unless you're a professional Sith...

Who would still be creepy and ego driven. But seriously, I don't want a volunteer to be really afraid for his health. So I agree with Steven this should be fun or at least interesting for the participant and controlled discomfort is as far as I would like to go.

And that sounds to me like variation of Jay Noblezada effect. What's The difference?
